Correct score was 23-14,so's today it costs 14 and the minimum is 10 ..... it's time to hit the slopes.....at $14 with maybe one trail open all the way from top to bottom...it seems like $14 is about what it's worth....downhill skiing is soooooooo expensive!

Would Forum members be interested in a day trip for skiing together as a group during the season?
Was thinking of maybe a weekday, as I don't make a habit of skiing on weekends, to many crowds, and the prices are ridiculous ! Just a thought I'd throw out there... Bigdog (but not so big) ![]() |

http://www.waterville.com/season-lon...r-streaks.html
How many are interested in carpooling on Wednesdays for the NASTAR races and apres ski time for Silver Streaks? It's a lot of fun and a great way to meet fellow skiers. I'm usually one of the first on the slopes in the morning with one of the staff and usually done by 1 PM when the lunch crowd hits the slopes. If we can get enough forum members together, we can ask for discount tickets.

My daily cost last year was around $11 a day with buying a NH resident Cannon pass and skiing 50+ days.I'd call that FLL cheapo.

Nope, fulltime NH resident adult. Before the Dec 15th deadline. That price is gone now. I paid $599 last May AND received 2 anytime tickets also so the price effectively was $148 less(2 tiks@ 74).

I just notice NH Seniors pay for a season pass. I can recall my Dad and his buddies were skiing free when they were seniors back in the days.
Guess I will have to wait until I am 70 to ski free at Gunrock. ![]()

Found X-Country Livermore trail at Waterville Valley !
![]() Found the Livemore trail at Waterville Valley today. I asked the folks at WV Nordic center about the Livermore trail, and they provided me a map, and proceeded to give me a ticket for the WV daily trail fee charge. When I said I was just inspecting the trails, they gave me a trail map and directions to Camp parking lot. Easiest way to find off RT.49 as follows: Take Rt 49. almost into Waterville Valley restort, but take a left onto Tripoli Rd., then drive about 1 mile, and bear right at a fork in road. After you bear right, this will take you over a 1 lane bridge over a river. The National Forest parking lot (Camp lot), will be directly in front of you. Pay your $3 for parking for the day and enjoy the trails ! ![]() (I actually didn't ski today, and was more of a recon mission). Trails today were a little thin and icy, but there were many folks out there enjoying the scenery and X-Country skiing. |

Close to the WMNF Depot Camp parking lot, located on the north side of town in Waterville Valley; three different trails are all free to use as cross-country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, and probably even bicycle riding. These three trails; Livermore Rd Trail, Greeley Ponds Rd Trail, and Tripoli Rd trail are all designated multiple use trails by the US Forest Service-WMNF and total about five or six miles total in length. They are so close to the Waterville Nordic trails that the Waterville groomer travels down the Livermore and Tripoli trails and apparently will lower its groomer device and groom the trails which was not the case in the past. It's a little bit confusing but there's some signs posted around the Depot Camp parking lot for the un-informed. And, it costs either three dollars/vehicle/day or $20/vehicle/year to park with no additional charge for these three trails.
The Waterville Valley Nordic trails system usually costs $20/day for a single day, cross country skiing ticket and they also offer fat wheel, guided tour, mountain bicycle riding on their Nordic trails system which is something new where you ride these fat wheel-low air pressure bicycles on the cross country ski trails. With this winter's shortage of natural snow, riding a fat wheel bicycle across the thin snow and grassy-dirt ski trails is becoming more popular. For many years, the cross country trails have been used for mountain biking in the summer, so's using a fat wheel-low air pressure bike is now a doable winter use

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan 6, at www.waterville.com, it costs $17 to ski becuz 17-points is all that other football team got, even though the Pats lost the game by 16-17 or something.....who cares....but the lift tix is $17.
One week ago, on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, the same ticket would have cost $75, and the conditions were much worse than today for $17, plus there was way more skiers on the slopes.....such a deal.....and 10-degrees cold today too!

Now that seems like a good value, what with 49 out of 51 trails open and probably some pretty good snow conditions and good sunny weather predicted....plus there may be some light dusting of snow overnight.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday's M.L.K. holiday prices were something like $75/day, and the Tuesday price, tomorrow-January 20 is ten dollars....not too shabby!!! www.waterville.com Today is the day that everyone has been waiting for; ten dollar skiing with all trails including True Grit and Stillness open, only Lower Bobby's closed because it has no snow-making, brite sun and about 20-degrees-calm wind. It took about two months to get the whole mountain covered with artificial snow but it has now been done for all the TEN-DOLLAR SKIERS out there .....hurray! ![]() Way-to-go N. E. Patriots; 45-7 or something, vs the Indiana Colts, even if they did have to deflate the football? Question of the day: What's the correct NFL air pressure inflation for the football? Supposedly, it is 13 p.s.i. according to Wilson Sporting Goods who makes the football. Wasn't that Bob Kraft sneeking around with an inflation needle before the game.....the Pats deflate the football....so's WV can deflate their price....down to the minimum $10....which is still more than the hourly rate they pay most of their WV lift and snow employees....but who cares ....sunny & warm skiing today for just ten bucks while a cheeseburger in the main lodge will still cost you seven dollars. ![]() ![]() ![]()

When the Pats win the super bowl today, skiing will be free at www.waterville.com on Tuesday, Feb 3 .... and that's what it says in the website so it is probably true!
.....good golly....if skiing the whole mountain is really free on Tuesday then maybe I'll feel guilty about it and actually buy one of their yummy cheeseburgers for 7.63.....just to help them out with their large electric bills.......like wow....free skiing on Feb 3....let's go Patriots.....beat Seattle....and go extra heavy on the mayo! ....no, on second thought, one can buy about six+ cans of good quality tuna at walmart or hannafords for 7.63 with no 9% tax built into the price

Times like these when all the 'freebies' and discounts are midweek. I can't wait to retire! Shop is close today so I have to use personal/vacation time. If WV was free today, you know where I will be!

... twenty dollars to ski Waterville tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 .....which is double the ten dollars that it cost last Tuesday......so, what's up with doubling the price for the same item......and, another ting, when do the trees on the supposed new-to-be Green's Peak intermediate area actually get cut down......will Green's Peak need another 43-years to actually happen? .....like, what is so difficult about cutting down some trees......you-picka-up-the-telephone......you calla a tree company.....and bing-bang-bingo-kaboom.....the trees they all getta cut down......capice!

I read somewhere ski resorts are giving steep discounts for Sunday afternoon skiing. By the time Sunday afternoon rolls in the slopes are battered by the weekend warriors. So I can see why.

$38 to ski WV today, Tuesday, March 10, according to waterville.com which might be an incorrect price because the Patriot/Temperature tuesday discount days were said previously in the website to be priced from 10 to 30-dollars ....... hmmmmm?
Looking at channel D121-2 on twc, am seeing many, many empty four seat chairlift chairs glide past, going up the slopes ...... empty. Like, why have a discount if no skiers show up...... maybe because the discount info is tucked way deep into the website info. Have to wonder if people get charged the full tuesday $65 at the lift ticket window if they are unaware of the discount $38-price today ......... hmmmmmm?

Thursday, December 17, 2015: Christmas is just one week away, and the skiing conditions are totally terrible what with the warm temps, and rain. Waterville Valley, Gunstock, and Sunapee have all closed operations for today due to the crappy-wappy weather and lack of snow cover on the trails.
So's .... where-o-where is the winter? http://www.laconiadailysun.com/newsx...d-until-dec-26 http://www.waterville.com/ski-ride/p...-and-cams.html ...bottom of page: today's updated stationary cam shot Google: 'N.H. on track for mildest December ever recorded'; Laconia Citizen, Dec 19

As much as I want to break the skis out I really wouldn't mind if we didn't have a ski season this year. Also prices are still way too high considering we haven't seen an inch of real snow this year. If they were cheap I would hit the mountain for a few runs just for S's and G's but not at the prices they're asking. |

This is one of the best discount programs I've come across. Lots of mountains, including the apparently beloved Waterville Valley... also Bretton Woods... among many others...

Just noticed a new sign on Route 93-north just before Exit 28 for the Waterville Valley Resort, formerly known as the Waterville Valley Ski Area. It's a Dept of Transportation sign that shows what's happening at Exit 28 ..... after 49-years....WV-Ski Area was started in 1966....the state has gone and put up a state sign there....... omg!
The sign says '12-Waterville Valley Resort' which means it is 12-miles to get there, and I liked it better when it was just called a ski area, and not a resort. U know the WV Ski Area needs all the business help it can get ..... so this sign is probably very welcome ..... skiing there on a Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri is so dead ....it's like you got your own private ski area, or something! For starters, WV needs to go back to burning real wood logs in their two main lodge fireplaces, and fuhgetabout those propane faux wood burning gizmo fireplaces. If the State of NH can burn real wood up at the Cannon Mt ski lodge fireplace, then WV should be able to go real wood, too!

It's going to take more than throwing on a few logs to get things fired up at WV. First they need to open up more ski terrain. Loon, Bretton Woods and Cannon left WV in the dust.
Second they need a heated bubble six pack of sort to replace the main quad going to the top, a lift to replace the high country and north side lift with one lift of significant verticle providing better early season skiing, a village to base gondola (how many years now have they been talking about this one?) Third they need more capital (someone who has 30-40m to spare). Time to sell to someone who can transform this area into its full potential and execute on the original vision. |

The current climate for investing in a ski area seems risky.
1) There are more poor snow year seasons than there used to be. This means increased cost for snowmaking and grooming and fewer skier visits. 2) The boomer generation, which helped expand the industry over the past 50 years, is aging out. 3) Many recent college grads, the replacement customers, are too in debt to afford the high cost of equipment and lift tickets. There are some good mid-week discounts among NH ski areas, but weekend and season pass costs are still a bit out of range for many ski bums.
