Default Ice Fishing Yesterday

Me and a couple friends went on a chartered ice fishing trip with Adrien yesterday on Winni. This is my friend Steve with his 5 1/4 lb. Lake trout, the biggest of the 5 we caught yesterday. It's a real healthy laker with beautiful color and markings.

It was a beautiful day to be fishing!

To be honest, after this weeks warm weather I am not comfortable recommending ANY area as being safe! The areas that were somewhat safe were all in the Northern half of the lake. You won't find any safe ice in the southern half.

Be extremely careful and check ice thickness as you go.

Good Luck!

What about the southern end of Alton Bay? They were landing planes there on Sunday.

Alton Bay is going quick, especially the ramp and shorelines. Most Bob Houses will be off by this weekend I would guess. Getting on and off the ice is the problem, not necessarily the thickness of the ice in the middle of the bay. The shoreline always go first.

I was thinking of fishing the Merrymeeting side of the stone bridge Saturday - got no kids. Interested?

I sincerely appreciate the invitation H.B., but I think I may be heading North to Pittsburg to get one last snowmobile ride in and hopefully ice fish the first Connecticut.

Thanks anyway!

Default Alton Bay

I went by Alton Bay latge yesterday afternoon and there were 6 to 8 bob houses still on the ice. I didn't see any fishermen, though.

Default Winnisquam

On the way back from the gym I noticed 2 way out on Winnisquam. I don't see any ice around the shoreline at all.
