Default Clubs and Hobbies

Where can we find a listing of clubs, or places to join and meet new people as new residents to the area. We have visited the area for over 10 years and are intending to make it our home in the next few months.

Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the Lakes Region !

I've been up here most of my life, so I sort of 'grew into' knowing the answer to your question. My first thought is what Town are you in, and, what church do you attend. I ask about the church because many churches have social based activities at which you meet other members, and then, from them, you find out about other activities in the Town - garden club, book club, hiking/wal/king club, dine around clubs, etc. I actually don't know of a site with a list, you sort of have to 'grow into' this.

Go to a local restaurant (diner type, grille type) and sit at the counter and ask the waitress. If you are a people person, eavesdrop and butt in on a conversation (caution advised !).

Ask at the post office, bank, ask your neighbor, stay on this Forum.

Good luck.

Meredith has a Recreation Complex. Ask anyone at desk if near Meredith.

All towns have a public library. Go in and ask receptionist about clubs and organizations.

Join the local Lions Club. Lot's to do and great people with lots of local knowledge about the goings on in town.

And of course, as mentioned above, any local religious gathering spot.

Some towns have both a Men's Club and a Ladies Club.

If any are veterans there may be a VFW or American Legion nearby.

Sign up for some volunteer work at Lakes Region Hospital or Huggins Hospital. Sign up for volunteer work at the Veterans Home in Tilton.

Locally, there are many informal groups such as card playing gatherings.

The list goes on and on.

If you're interested in shooting, there are a number of sportsmen's clubs around the lake, several outdoor firing ranges, and an indoor firing range in Belmont.
