Funny. I was thinking the same thing. A buddy of mine told me that when it gets low, it goes into some sort of mode that makes the boat go real slow but you are usually able to get it back to shore on what batteries are left. I always wondered what happens if it got out of radio range? Would it just keep on going until it died out? But yeah I would be nervouse doing that in the winter. At least in the Summer you could swim for it or have a passing boater pick it up for you....

My neighbor across the street from the pond I overlook has one of these. His is gas powered and does run down to a low mode which tells you to head back for a refill. I often wonder what would happen if one of his planes goes past the RC range. Does it just keep flying until it falls out of the sky?
