Driving up the hill coming out of Melvin Village this morning on RT 109, A big, and I mean BIG owl flew right in front of me almost hitting the windshield. Right to left flight pattern.
I have been living up here for about 5 years now and had yet to see an Owl in the wild. (Just at Squam Lakes Rehab) Wow that thing was bigger than I thought they were. Don't know what kind it was but it was Brown, and did I mention it was BIG! And to boot both my passenger side windows were wide open in the truck. What if it had flown into the cab. Yikes. ![]() Glad I did not kill it though. ![]() It was really BIG! |

Yeah it looked like that. Brown. I have seen smaller owls before but this one was BIGger.

It may have been a Barred Owl. We have a couple of them in the back of twenty mile bay. We heard their mating calls last weekend at2:00AM. Very distinctive calls
