Anyone have any recomendations on how to clean boat upholstery that has heavily spotted mold or mildew from the winter? My express cruiser is heavily soiled with spots. I am not sure whether the spots are mold or mildew but damn they are hard to get off. Tried renting a steam upholstery cleaner, tried spray nine, tried diluted bleach.. all with very very limited results.
Would love any thoughts on how to get it clean. The floor carpets are not bad but the ceiling carpet is significant. thanks HCG |

I have to ask-- Why would you leave the carpeting In the cruiser over the winter In the 1st. place? I allways remove mine and steam them then store them at home In a dry storage closet upstairs

at Home depot. The best so far but doesn't get all of it off.
I stop shrink wrapping my boat as it cause moisture to accumulate. I use a heavy duty boat cover reinforced with small pvc pipes. never had a problem. Cover is almost 20 years old!

I have one of these you can borrow, works great, might do the job. Might not if a steam cleaner didn't.

I am not sure about using it on ceiling carpet but on my vinyl seating we use Tilex Mildew Root Penetrator and Remover. It is different that normal Tilex Mildew Remover. I had the boat detailed and the seats looked like crap. We bought a bottle of this and a Magic Eraser and an hour later everything looked like brand new.

I agree with BH Zep does a great job, when I store for the winter as I am not a fan of shrinkwrap for that reason I put baking soda and a couple of desicant bags in the cuddy. Knock on wood no problems.

all set. A 50/50 bleach/water mix took care of it. Good as new.
Thanks to all that suggested ideas. HCG |
