I got a assignment in my english class in high school to write a poem about anything I wanted. Without hesitation I chose lake winni. Got voted best in the class so I figured I'd share it with people who have actually experienced these things. So, here it is. Let me know what you think.

The lake is like a child
always growing and changing.
Old cabins are torn down,
and million dollar mansions are put in their place.
Summer comes, and so do great times,
fishing, boating, and spending time with friends.
The lake is where I’ll be all summer, and that will never end.
Early morning fishing trips watching the sun peak over the mountains,
saying “good morning” to everyone that’s watching.
In the morning the lake is a sheet of glass,
but as the day goes on, that will soon change,
because a million tourists come like ants that have found something sweet.
Weekends get crowded, and it’s a daily event,
to watch all the rookies who don’t know where they’ve went.
You hear a BANG, and know what it was,
someone has hit a rock, because they don’t know what a marker does.
Fall brings quietness, and lots of rain,
but the sun still shines, and its fun just the same.
Farmers harvest crops, and the smell of cold is in the air,
but the best thing is the farm made apple pie you get from the Sandwich Fair.
Winter, its back to being a tourist attraction,
all the people looking for some skiing action.
Snowmobiles hum across the lake,
sometimes late at night, keeping you awake.
Then comes spring with lots of mud,
And the lake starts to thaw, as the ice moves out.
Summer then follows, and it starts over again.
The lake is like a child that is always growing and changing.
