What do you pay NH co-op when your power is off?

Just wondering what kind of power bills people are getting when their cottages are closed for the winter.
I have a building on rt 25 that is totally shut down from October to May.......no heat,lights or phone.Breakers are all "off".
I receive a monthly bill from NH co-op for $62 all of which are service charges.

I am not in this situation, but I would ask as to whether or not the Co-Op came and shut you down, or, are you just not using any power during this time?

Is the power still to the pole, still to the meter, but just not being used by you because you have shut your breakers off. If you went in, say, in January, flipped the breakers and turned on a light, would you get light?

The difference in being shut down by owner and being shut down by Co-Op may be the reason you seem to be being billed for this period.

I thought they charged you around 20dollars a month whether you use any power or not. Wolfeboro was much cheaper per month at $5. but I am not sure that they didn't just raise that.

I would talk to them about pulling the meter, it might be worth it to pay the re hook up charge.

We pay $26.00 a month to NH Co-op during the winter. We shut down all power for the winter.

I just checked their site, you can probably tell them you want to shut down service for the winter, looks like it is a $20 charge to turn it back on. I'm sure there are people who shut down for the winter and pay nothing. I'd call them.

You guessed it, Phoenix.........I was talking about the Red Hill Dari building and we turned the water on yesterday. We plan to get the crew down there soon to get open by Mothers day. Maybe earlier if possible.
Good idea to have the service shut off and then hooked up in the spring. Never thought of that. Thanks IDT

We have NH Elect Co-op also and pay about $26 a month when we don't use any electricity which seems pretty high to me. I called them a few years ago to find out about disconnecting for the winter months and the fee to reconnect was over $100 so it wasn't worth it for us.

A couple years ago with the lake house shut down, all power shut off, we got a power bill for $1500 for one month: eek:

Upon calling the power company we found they issued the bill based on a "estimate" of the power we should have used that month. We demanded an actual reading and they fixed the bill to less than $20 for the month.

This house is shut down in November and reopens in May. My sister pays the utility bills for the house from the family general funds and she had paid the bill then called me and asked if I had gone up and stayed the month.

She no longer pays strange bills with out asking first.

yes my bill is 26.06 for service all the other items are based on usage. So Samiam is there a number in front of the other items which should have kwh usage so if there is some power was used

We run the boiler during the winter months.... the bill ranges from $30 to $32 per month. During the spring /summer, it is about $26-$28.
