Sunk Pontoon Boat

Here is a pic I took on Monday afternoon at the Glendale docks of a double deck pontoon boat that apparently broke free from it's dock / mooring and ended up sinking. Never heard of a pontoon boat sinking as most of the quality manufacturers baffle the pontoons into multiple airtight chambers. If a hole is punctured in the pontoon it's usually not an issue as only one chamber will fill with water. This one must have been banging up on rocks along the entire underside of the pontoons to sink or it was not baffled...

Wow, it must have really been hitting hard. ..... I didn't think those things could sink, unless a pontoon somehow broke away from the rest of the boat, which I suppose could happen.:confused:

I didn't know there were docks in Glendale...is this a public launch? If so, how much is the launch fee and how do you get there?

The docks are for use by Gilford taxpayers with a sticker or card in their vehicle. This is rigorously enforced.

Wow, looks as if the batt died so the bilge pump couldn't operate. No covers, either.

yes that would be my take as well....

As for the pontoon, well as others have said, it must have really gotten slammed for it to be in that shape.... hopefully someone will find out some more details...

Don't have a picture but right after the storm,I noticed my neighbors boat was sinking.....water was over the swim platform and lapping at the transom.never worried because I thought they had someone watching the place.Anyway,I went over ,found an outside plug and used a sump pump to get rid of the water,removed the seats,carpets and toys,charged the battery and left the cover off to dry the boat out for a few days.
Problem was the boat cover.It was drooping and funneled water right into the boat and ran down the battery with the bilge pump running constantly.Nice people from Conn. and feel bad because they work a lot and only get to use their place a few weekends each year.

A little off topic :offtopic: but I have never seen a double deck pontoon,,, :confused:

I dont think its uncommon, it just hasn't caught on as quick in NH. Very popular out west and down south. A friend of mine has one on Newfound. It has a water slide from the second floor to the water. It is quite the boat.

Also may have something to do with the bridges on Winni (Long Island, governor's etc) These boats are sometimes too high.

That is Dave of Dave's Motorboat Shoppe with his head down walking sort of towards the camera. He is a good guy and excellent mechanic. He should run for mayor of Gilford because whenever I'm at those docks with him he literally knows everyone there.

I think it is a Premier. I believe it is usually moored over near Jolly Island. It used to park in Glendale yacht club at one time if it is the one I am thinking of.

Premier makes double deckers right up to 31', some with twin 250's on them. They are called the Boundary Waters series. This one is smaller, probably 27'.

That was funny and nobody caught on. However I suspect that an I/O pontoon boat might have a bilge pump, but as a owner of a outboard pontoon boat we make jokes about bildge pumps on it.

Understand the owner considered pulling it up on the beach and then was more concerened about a tree falling on it so left it moored. Mooring did not hold due to the large waves rolling across the broads along with the wind.

My wife and I saw that pontoon boat apparently washed ashore and listing badly early Monday Morning on Jolly Island (East side). When we returned Tuesday to show friends it was gone --- now I know where to
