mcdude Senior Member Registered: July 2002 Location: Rock Haven Lake - West Newfield, ME Posts: 5,367	circa 1914. The corner of Main St. (Rt. 11) and Factory St. (Rt. 140) The house with the pillars still stands. Note the horse and wagon and three story factory on the extreme left. Before it burnt I believe shoes were made there. (or was it corkscrews?)

The pillar house was the White Pillar Resturant in the 50's and early 60's. The owner, an older lady, was "very particular" as I remember. We ate there a number of times when my parents had special guests visiting.

White Lodge Restaurant. Owners names were Norman and Mildred Griffin. She was hell on wheels. Next door was the Shoe factory that burned down,
