1959 Lyman 19' w/109hp Gray marine 6 cyl.
There is a story as to how my dad got this boat in 1964. Let's say he had no choice.....................
Downings just put it in his name and said pay us when you can! They refused to sell it to anyone else. Back up a bit.....My dad had just bought a new 1964 Buick LeSabre a few weeks before this boat became available and he just did not have the $$$ to pay for it. He and I did go for a test drive at the behest of Downing Jones but he refused to buy. Downing Jones only wanted my dad to be the owner as he knew he would care for the boat. They even sold the 1955 15' Lyman we had before my dad agreed to buy the 19'. The comment from Downing Jones was "Bob why are you not driving your new boat........we sold your other one and we need you to clean it out." The 19' cost $1700.00 including trade-in.
As part of buying the 64 Buick included Jessie Rogers, owner of the Bay Side Motel (Bay Side Inn), buying our 63 Buick LeSabre Wagon which he did. I bet Steven Roger's remembers that car. It was beige with the big V8 and when I find a picture taken at Bay Side that I know I have I will post it. http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...amp;ppuser=628
