Tornado Watch #272, Sunday 6 June 2010
Urgent - immediate broadcast requested
tornado watch number 272 nws storm prediction center norman ok 1110 am edt sun jun 6 2010 the nws storm prediction center has issued a tornado watch for portions of connecticut massachusetts southern maine southern new hampshire much of new jersey eastern new york eastern pennsylvania rhode island southern vermont coastal waters effective this sunday morning and evening from 1110 am until 800 pm edt. Tornadoes...hail to 1.5 inches in diameter...thunderstorm wind gusts to 80 mph...and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas. The tornado watch area is approximately along and 105 statute miles east and west of a line from 10 miles north of concord new hampshire to 40 miles southeast of harrisburg pennsylvania. Remember...a tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Other watch information...continue...ww 271... Especially from ern ny newd into ma and srn nh/vt as an upper impulse...surface low and warm front spread quickly newd across the region. Other thunderstorms are expected to develop along ewd moving cold front and move ewd across the srn half of the watch through the afternoon hours. Strong shear and instability will support supercells with wind damage and a few tornadoes. Aviation...tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to 1.5 inches.
