The after sunset glow was just beautiful tonight. Thought I would share this photo with you all.

sunset 7/25
Sunset on 7/25... The cloud deck here, with the clearer skies to the NW, made for a nice sunset. (hope the attachment worked.... it's kind of a mystery to me)

Sunset Watching
I learned something this summer about watching sunsets on the lake...
...the sunset is not over just when the sun disappears over the horizon. If there are clouds in the sky, they will turn all kinds of brilliant colors for at least another half hour. We learned this while watching sunsets on our pontoon boat and heading back to the dock too early, only to look up in the sky and find the best colors happened while we were driving home. |

Sadly, the sun is already starting it's migration back to the west. I'm just starting to notice it now, but in 4-5 weeks, it will set behind Rattlesnake from my vantage point. Then eventually between Gubstock and Belknap Mt when I have to pack it in for the year.

Isn't it a beautiful thing to measure our season on the lake by the sun's position in the sky.

It is sad. Every year I feel sad when I realize summer is starting to leave us already. It is so short.

Sunset from 7-15
It would be very difficult, I'm sure, to get a bad sunset picture on Winnipesaukee!. My wife and I were up for a week earlier in July when I took this shot, just about 9 pm looking between Diamond and Rattlesnake to the Ossipee mountains. I'm happy to say we'll be going back for another week to our little rented cabin over Labor Day and will be curious to see how the sunset looks then at the same time. Happy "dog days" of August to all.

Awesome photo's. We love to take our guests for a quick boat ride to the west end of Rattlesnake near diamond to see the sunsets. It never gets old and it always makes us feel thankful that we're able to be there.
