Another M&M Marine Salvage Question
I have a 1989 boat. I'm interested in getting a set of trim tabs from a similar year boat so as to keep the boat "period correct".
Here's my question, do tabs last, and do the pumps, solenoids, and electrics last too? Am I just setting myself up for trouble? I stopped in to M&M last summer and they said I could find myself some parts in their inventory. Price is supposed to be half of new, seems like too much to me. What do you think? |

Internet
I would try searching the internet. I have a 1988 Formula. I was able to find most of my parts on EBay and Craigslist. Then I would see if M&M Salvage has the parts.
Don't be surprised if the local marinas have older parts. I found a windshield to replace a broken one in a 1986 Liberator at Winnisquam Marine. Lakeport Landing have some parts for my Formula. Good Luck!

Don't know why it would matter if they are "period correct" on a 1989 boat.......only if the boat was an antique. I'd just get a good used or after market set up that gives you the best lift.

Trim Tabs
I have the Bennet's trim tabs in the Formula. When I checked out the trim tabs and the unit, everything appears to be original. You can get the manual and the parts list online from the mfg. I was told Formula uses the latest state of the art products at the time when they build their boats. Was also told that Bennetts trim tabs last a long time.

I think Bennets are great unless you're into all out racing. I had a set of 36" Bennets on a 1976 30' Chris Tournament Sportfish and they were still like new when I sold it in 1989.

The Bennet Trim Tabs made in 1989 are the same tabs made from 1972 forward. We do carry these in stock all of the time. In regards to price, why pay full price for an item when you could get quality used parts for half of that price. Here at M&M Salvage, we go through the used parts we sell and make sure that they are working properly.
