This Forum discussion occurs daily in my house.
Summer means hot and muggy to me and I love it. It means hot and miserable for my wife and she hates it and informs me of this...a lot.

Every time I feel like I'm a little hot, I just remember the 6 weeks of Siberia last winter and think, "I'm not really THAT hot." And when the the stone covered boatyard seemed like a sauna Tuesday, out on the lake was a cool breeze in your face. What a way to beat the heat!

Extreme's
This thread sums up why I love New England/New Hampshire so much. The extreme's of our 4 season's is awesome affording us so many options for entertainment.
Add to that the close proximity to mountains, the ocean, lakes, rivers, big cities and even another country to the north, plus the quality of the people here and it just doesn't get much better. P.S. Oh ya...and the best state motto!

Considering we were wearing fleece while out in the kayaks this past Sunday morning, I'm ready. Hopefully it'll stay warm through the weekend.

Well the good thing is that if you love snow, are are entering into a period of very low sunspot activity (Maunder Minimum) and thus can expect much cooler weather overall. Apparently this is predicted to be a sustained trend for some time. There are various sites posting information about it...
http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/SunspotCycle.shtml Of course the sun spot activity or lack thereof and it's effects are all caused by global warming on plant earth Enjoy the nice weather while it's here. |

Well
Is this the place where you post a complaint about your high electric bill because the air conditioner has been running constantly?

Yup, same here. Were up on the 22nd and can't wait. It's great going up a on a weekday or weekend but when you can wake up there every morning with your boat at the dock, and coffee on the porch, it just doesn't get any better!

Folks it is a picture perfect day today - simply does not get any better. Tonight another full (blue) moon which just adds to the awesomeness. For sure a campfire tonight!

earthquake?
It's August 1 and only 17 days until I arrive at the Lake but who's counting? Did I hear correctly that there was a mild earthquake in NH yesterday or Thursday? Looking forward to Wolfeboro hospitality that I always find to be so great.

Heat
Does the region ever get 100 degree days? We just had a run of 100 - 103 degree days here in Oregon. We're still planning on moving there, almost ready to put our house on the market.

Taking a look a Moultonborough records, the record is 98. So I would say not in modern history, granted that's only one town. In my 8yrs in the region I find it rarely gets above 90. Especially up in the northwest part of the lake. Just a few weeks ago in the warmest stretch I was down in Alton it was 92, when I got home to Moultonborough it was 84 at my house. Again, its a small sample though.

Very rare and if it does its almost always in a city like Manchester or Nashua.
