Did I see something right? Is there a new parasailing company at the Weirs?

Default Parasailing.

As a 71 year Old Fart I have no interest in risking my life for a 10 minute THRILL RIDE. You DECIDE. Feelin LUCKY....GO for it. NB

PS: I am a Licenced Private Pilot and I would NOT jump out of a perfectly good airplane either..as in Skydiving.

If that is what I saw over Cow and Little Bear today, it seemed like a lot of island and not a lot of water to "sail" over. I am sure it is said to be "perfectly safe." For someone else.

Took the kids and their friends Parasailing this morning. They had a blast. The crew that runs the boat is great and the kids said the view was amazing. Two thumbs up for Captain Tony. Be sure to stop over and see them before Labor Day.

Default Way up high

My wife and I were up and out on the lake last Wed. We tied up and had lunch at Akwa Marina, which by the way was delicious. My wife noticed the para sailors going by as we were eating. Can't believe how high they go! Two weeks ago, my daughter jumped out of a perfectly good plane,at about 10000 feet, in Pepperell, for the 1st time as a birthday present from her boyfriend. No, thank you very much, ground level is just fine for me. My wife won't even let me on a ladder any more!

Exclamation

I just got the word that the Parasailing operation has closed and gone back to their home base in Florida. Too much bad weather and windy days made it impossible for them to make ends meet.

Such FUN! But I am really sad to see all these fun things disappear -- the alpine slide that used to be at Gunstock, the water slide is closed for good, and now parasailing is kaputz.

WOW, that video was eye opening!

Non-locking or rated carabiners for that matter, with no attachment redundancy to the one thing that prevents you from falling. NO THANKS! It is amazing that with that level of equipment that they were ever able to get insurance, let alone a permit to operate.

Unfortunately the cost of insurance for these types of operations continues to sky rocket. As such they have to have enough good days to make it worth there while. And well in todays economy those good days just don't happen enough in an already short season here in the northeast.
