Vintage Race Boat Regatta
The parking lot has been transformed into the staging and pit area for the vintage race boat regatta this Friday and Saturday. You'll see a lot of cool boats.

Be warned that the Wolfeboro public docks are closed on Fri/Sat... I think the docks in backbay will be open.

Docking
The south side of the south pier is STILL open to casual boaters. That's on the far LEFT if you are ON the pier...OR On your far RIGHT if you are on the water. Room for a few boats. I have seen some boats who have come in and "hogged" the space. NB

If you boat into Wolfeboro Harbor, you'll be greeted by Marine Patrol who will tell you the town docks are closed and that the entire harbor is headway speed only.
The "race" is pretty cool. Some very fast boats and some not so fast. You can get fairly close to the race oval on your boat. |

I am privileged to be the Race Director for this years event. Today we had an awesome opening day. We were able to run the morning heats and afternoon heats before the cold front went through. The big hydros are capable of exceeding 180 MPH. The Jersey Skiffs were able to do 75+ due to calm water conditions. Come on down to Wofeboro Bay either by car or boat. Private Boats are able to see the heats from the outer orange buoys around the course. You can also get on the Winni Belle to see the whole event. Winni Belle goes out twice a day. The heats in the morning are duplicated in the afternoon. Also you can give a $100 donation to the NHBM and take a ride on the Gold Cups and Jersey Skiffs. It is a ride of your life. Hope to see you tomorrow. I will be in the Tower 1 at the gazebo. Come on by and say "Hi". |

Jazzman...
Thank you for your daughters picture of Miss America VII. This is a special boat that I forgot to mention. It has a history going back to 1929 when Major Hane Segave set out to capture world speed record. His hydroplane took on Miss America VII. Miss American VII won the race with a world record speed of 94 MPH. Today Miss America VII has been brought back by Geoffrey Magnuson and a replica was built some 70 years later. It has twin (2) Rolls-Royce engines each developing a 1000 HP. The sound of the engines and the thrill of seeing it run is unbelievable. Come see it for yourself. |
