This is a very nice history and story of Fay's Boat Yard and Merrill P Fay on You-Tube. The old photos are great to see.

Great Story
That was good! The part where he says it's a no B.S. boat yard is absolutely true. They accidentally damaged my pontoon boat last winter while in storage. I received a phone call from them during the winter to inform me of what happened and was also told not to worry as new parts had been ordered from the manufacturer and it would be fixed before spring and it was.
I have been there for four years now and am very happy with their service, storage and entire staff of people who are always helpful. Dan |

This country needs more people like Merrill Fay! That as a very nice story of how he built up Fay's Boat Yard.
I took this clip out of the video where there are ten people working on cars. It appears they most of them are cleaning them up. Two of them could be working on an engine in the left side of the picture. Anyone know about Fay's repairing cars at one time? |

Fays is an interesting place. I will say they are the best place to go for parts... More then a few friends of mine, have had old motors that we have kept running with parts from Fays....
On the other side, I have seen and heard of some sour dealings with Fays over the 20 years I have been on the lake. And at the bottom line is the fact that as long as you are a loyal Fays Customer you do alright, and they are very good to you... If you are not loyal, they aren't either..... I personally had an bad experience with there sales and service dept, where I was ready to by a boat, but wanted to detailing to be done, as part of the deal....They demanded the boat be stored for the winter with them. I told them no, I would bring it to them they could do the work, but that I would also haul it back when they where done, as I had no reason to pay for a winter's storage, when I had a place to store the boat. By the way, they weren't going to store it for free, they wanted me to pay for the storage so they could conveniently work on the boat. The bottom line was they loss the sale of the boat, because, I wouldn't store the boat with them. As for the detailing work, I was asking them for a few hours worth of buffing and polishing.... not worth the $1000 dollars it was going to cost to store the vessel.....considering I was already paying for the detailing, which we worked into the deal....

The family Slickcraft has been in the same covered slip at Fay's for about 30 years +/-. We have always had good service by good people.
Looking along the row of slips in our area we see the same customers year after year. Now that does say something. |
