Default Lake Winnipesaukee ANDROID Navigation & Chart App!

Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads-up:

We've had a terrific response on our iPhone/iPad Lake navigation application! We have also received a lot of requests for an Android (tablet/smartphone) version.

I'm very happen to announce that we are in the process of creating such a version! It will be ready for Ice-Out, and feature the newest (yet-to-be-released 2012 Bizer charts).

In addition, a Bizer 2012 chart upgrade will be available for existing iPhone/iPad users.

Think spring*!!

*But don't forget about ski season!

Truly good news...

Anyone out there with the IPHONE version care to tell us what you like about it? Make no mistake, I am getting it the day it comes out anyway, lol, but I am curious about the pros and cons and how most are actually using it...boat, car, just a good thing to have, chartplotter back up, etc??????

BTW...what is the cost on the iphone version?

If you look at the web site, there is a user's manual which will give you a pretty comprehensive view of the iPhone app.

No guarantee that ALL of these features will be carried over to the Android version - but we'll do our best!

Default Navionics App for iPhone and Android

I've been using the Navionics Marine and Lakes: USA app on my iPhone and find it to be outstanding. For $10 you get extremely detailed maps of all lakes. The Winni map has detailed and accurate bottom contour data and even shows the docks along the shorelines. Seems to be the same map data you pay $100 for for your chartplotter. Great for use as a primary or backup nave unit. Available for iPhone and Android.

Default tried

I tired the "lite" free ver. would not zoom to even the state level let alone the lake level.

I 'spoke' to the developer of this app via another forum, and FYI, he said development of the Android version hasn't progressed at all:

Here was his quote about it, as of July, 2012:

Was going to - started on it - but don't have the time!
IMHO, unless he finds a *LOT* of requests for this, it probably won't happen via this developer.

Here is his website: http://www.bradgoodman.com/LakeWinni/

Default Big fan of this application -- with iPhone / iPad

I used this app extensively this summer and have been very happy. I have an iPad 2 with 3G (purchased this because it has GPS -- and you don't need to subscribe to a wireless plan to use this built-in GPS) as my primary chart plotter. I use this mostly at night or in areas where I don't know well. Sits right on my console when needed. I can also run this app on my iPhone 4S with the same functionality but smaller screen. Works well in a pinch. Also provides a speedometer. You purchase this once, use on multiple devices, and get free updates to the Bizer map. Absolute no brainer, especially if you don't have a dedicated chartplotter. Still carry the physical Bizer map but I am much more confident navigator -- and made my boating more fun this year, especially at night.

We use the Winni app with our iPhone. In our opinion, it was not too accurate working off of the cell phone towers so we purchased a small GPS unit (Bad Elf) that plugs in to the phone and reads from the satellites. This system is very accurate.
