Default Chimney Sweep

Ok... The forum did me a solid recommendation for a painter !

Now we're at the next step. Just realized that the Condo Assoc is not responsible for the fireplaces and thus before I even consider lighting a match we want to get our chimney cleaned.

I have already lived through one chimney fire at our MA home and don't care to repeat the experience

Need a reputable Chimney Sweep Co that services in the Gilford area. Hopefully someone we can get to do it this week while we are up here ( I know that's asking a lot).

Default Chimney Pros...Gilford

I used this company and was very pleased. I think they have a $99 special for cleaning with a coupon in one of the local papers like Winnipesaukee Times.

Do a search under Chimney sweep and there are a lot of very good suggestions.

Call Mike from Lakes Region Chimney Pro. I have used him several times. Fair prices and a good guy.

Default Chimney sweep

I'll second.... errrrr fourth 'Lakes Region Chimney Pro' !

Mike as the name indicates, is a real 'Pro', he knows his business.

Personally I wouldn't got to anyone else. He did my wood stove insert installation into my brick chimney, with stainless steel liner in flue. He has also done two chimney cleanings since.

Good luck !

Default Lakes Region Chimney Pro

Had them out on Saturday to clean chimney, I was away, Sue at the cottage alone. When I returned, found the elbow between the woodstove and the liner broken in 2 pieces. Appears to me they pulled the stove out of the fireplace without disconnecting the elbow. Then Sue tells me they want $189 to replace the elbow.

I went down to Fireside Living and purchased a replacement elbow for $13. So were they going to charge me $176 for labor ?

I am not a Happy Camper at the moment, as I have struggled to get the elbow to position correctly to connect the liner to the stove insert.

Just let me say I am not pleased with Lakes Region Chimney Pro at the present time !!

Well --

I never closed out this thread by letting all know that after repeated attempts & voicemails no one EVER had the decency to even return our call from Lakes Region Chimney Pro.

Which led me on the hunt for alternatives ....

On the off handed chance, I stopped in at Fire N Stone (Tilton) on the way up to the Lake one Friday night in late August. Explained my dilemma of only being a "week ender" at this point in the Season & totally appreciated that this was a Chimney Sweeps busiest season.

I actually met with the Manager of the Store, who was extremely congenial and understanding ...... two week ends later he had a crew at our Condo.

High praises for Fire N Ice

Default Fire N Stone

http://www.firenstone.com/

They did some chimney repair for us, reasonable price and prompt friendly service.
As I do my own sweeping (pretty easy really) I don't know about their pricing for just sweeping/cleaning.

Default Lakes Region Chimney Pro

I’m not discounting any negative post, but I’ll relay my recent dealings with Mike and his crew at Lakes Region Chimney Pro . Sorry for the long post.

In late May Mike came to our new to us 50 year old cabin for a fireplace inspection.
The chimney and cap needed minor work, but the inside was missing a damper and the firebox had holes. We discussed our options and decided we would look into a wood stove insert. He did not charge me for the inspection.

In late August we decided on a stove insert and called Mike to install it. His busy season had started but he worked us in. His crew was friendly and mindful of keeping the house clean and floor protected. They ran into a problem that was a caused by the manufacture, Mikes quickly called Eased Edges and worked out a resolution at no extra cost to me.

Unfortunately we had to wait for a part to be shipped. At this point we are in the middle of September and he was really busy and I did have to wait an extra week to get the job completed. But they came on the day they said; by me being flexible with time and access helped the process. Overall I’m very happy with their work and our new insert.

When I asked about the voice mail filling up he said it was filling up 3 times a day and he was very busy. But as with many small businesses your stuck between growing (which is not always a good thing) and making everyone happy. I will say I’m surprised at the issue Water Camper had.

I found Lakes Region Chimney Pro about a year and a half ago in that Simply Direct mailer that I get at the house every month. I used the coupon that was in there for some stone work. Awesome job! I've sincerely used him for sweeping as well. Absolutely no issues.
