If that's the case he was up early this morning and had some kind of a time machine as today is the 10th.

Thumbs up Johnson's /New Durham..2 thumbs up..way up!

We have been to Johnson's twice for dinner and , ashamedly more times than we should have, for ice cream.

They just opened 6/27, the wait staff is new. Both times we went the food was excellent, plentiful and the waitstaff friendly and courteous. Our last experience, last night (Saturday) was a bit slower than the first but I think it is only fair to give them a chance. It was very busy and there have been people waiting outside each time we have been by.

Food: Lobster pie has the meat of a whole lobster. Yum
Ribs fall off the bones. Yum
Haddock , scallops very moist and tender
Sirloin tips, done perfect ( I like medium rare) tender and moist.
Home made bread loaves excellent

Red wine...well, they need a better merlot than Turning Leaf
(yeah, I am a wine snob)

I think they should offer salad choice with the entree, that's my only complaint

The ice cream servings are ridiculously HUGE..I have never seen such big servings. ( and we have previously owned an ice cream shop). The ice cream is Richardsons, if you have never tried Richardson's ice cream you are really in for a treat. (Bailey's Bubble also serves Richardson's) . I do think that the dairy bar needs some organization on delivering the product to the client. The order lines and pick up lines are disporganized. BUT, that said, it is by far the BEST ice cream in the Alton area.

All in all, we definately will keep coming back.

Johnson's is dirty, does not have a healthy menu, unless you consider a bowl of greens healthy. The food is very greasy and the wait staff is not trained in proper food handling. We will never go there again!

Another first post negative vote. Are you a competitor or a disgruntled former employee?

I am not an employee or competitor. I am a local who is disgusted with the poor service, completely unhealthy food and the unsanitary habits of the staff who handle the food which they serve. Huge, greasy portions do not make a place "good to eat at". We have been to Johnson's three times now thinking it might be better next time and it never is any better. I believe that some of the people who like to regularly eat at greasy unkempt eateries like this are ignorant of healthy eating habits and just don't care what they are shoving into their mouths.

Default oh boy

I've only been there once, and honestly wasn't very impressed by the cleanliness, either. I don't, however, think anyone who pops into a place like Johnson's or any other drive-in should be categorized as a glutton or as ignorant.

Lighten up, Francis.

Ya know what? I'm happy you are taking your business somewhere else. It'll make the line that much shorter the next time I go.

I've been there a number of times. Never had a greasy meal. Outside of the first time I went, right after they opened, never had bad service. Never seen the place unreasonably dirty - meaning I'm not going to be upset about the stray french fry that fell on the floor. My only complaint would be waiting to get a table. The alternative situation is usually not a good thing and besides, you're going to help me out with that, right?

We've never had a bad meal there ever also. It's always been very clean and I don't find the food greasy. I love the tips.

Once we had bad (slow) service. I believe the waitress was new. But they gave us a free desert to compensate - and it was delicious.

It has been greasy every time I have been there and the cold slaw is consistantly horrible.

So, if you don't like greasy food, don't order greasy food. We've been to Johnson's over and over and over. My food isn't greasy or gross and I am careful since, well, I go to Weight Watchers. I find Johnson's to be a great place to find good selections. I just avoid the ginormous desserts which isn't easy.

The place looks just fine to me - clean, neat, fresh. Lots better than some places I have been all around the lake, like, well, the Front Porch in Wolfeboro. I've seen ants on the tables in there and there is ice cream all over the take-out counter all the time.

And, like a previous poster, your absence will mean I won't have to wait as long. So, good ridance to you.

Thumbs down Today

In the past. I've always enjoy the fried food at Johnson's. Better than other fried foods on the lake. Today, I find the fried food greasy. Either thay waited too long between filtering and changing the shortening or they change the shortening. I don't know.

I went to Makris on Rte 106 in Concord last Sunday and I found them sunsational.
