I saw some footage of it on the local news. It appeared to be a "waterspout" in Meredith.

Default Water Spout?

Channel 9 had a report of a "tornado" with video on Friday. Reported to have happened near Sachem Cove in Meredith. Went from the lake (Water Spout) to the cove with some tree and minor damage to a couple of homes on the shore. The video showed what appeared to be a circular motion but not tighly organized water spout.

Saw a bunch of trees down in a fairly concentrated area on Meredith Neck Rd on Friday P.M. Probably the cause of the power outage on Bear, Mink and probably other islands late Friday afternoon. Sure looked like there was some isolated violent winds.

There were articles in the web version of the Citizen, under Lakes Region hit, and also.

There is an article in today's Citizen of August 17, 2004 that states that a tornado event did occur.

Default Weather

Is there a someone we can talk to about the weather you guys are having up there. The family and I are coming up at the end of this week to Meredith for our annual two week vacation, and we paid for sunny weather.

Look out NH, we are on our way.

A local (RI) TV station aired a home video of the event. It looked like a tornado over water and the newscaster only said this was home video of a tornado near Meredith NH. They didn't give any details about hitting land but it sure looked impressive over the water.

Thumbs up Thanks Lin, and tc Mike

I just watched the vidio myself and whomever took the home movie of the water spout, over the water, did a fine job! Looked in the vidio like it was coming right at the person who was filming!
