Exclamation Paugus Bay/CJs Open Water

We finally got out on the sleds today and discovered that Watermark has put large circulators in at their job site that are preventing the water from freezing along the shoreline. This now prevents access to the trail from Paugus.

Default Options around Watermark?

Anyone know where to cross over from Paugus to HK Sports? This is the route we use to head onto Gilford's trails.

Exclamation Paugus Bay Access

For many years now the old Burger King restaurant on Union Ave. has been an entry/exit point for sleds coming from Gilford or from Lake Winnipesaukee. Water Mark Construction has now occupied that property and has placed water bubblers around their docks. Because of this, there is now approximately 10 to 15 feet of open water at the transition from land to ice. We have roped off the small bridge that you would normally cross after passing Cactus Jacks restaurant and then onto the Burger King property to access the lake.

You will now have to bear left after passing Cactus Jacks and follow the plowed driveway down past the Irwin Marine building to pick up the short piece of trail ( approximately 300 ft. ) which will then give you access to the lake. From this access point, if you want to access corridors 15 N. and 9 S (RxR tracks) ride slightly to the right across the bay. There is a large sign by the entry/exit point. From there you ride through a small field and into a plowed parking lot. The tracks are right there at the Appleton St. crossing.

Our plan is to place a couple of signs off shore in front of the old Burger King. These signs will have arrows on them directing sleds to travel to the right down past the Spinnaker Cove Yacht Club to the new entry/exit point. We will also place a “NO SNOWMOBILING” sign between the arrow signs. We will also put signs up at the new access point as well as the Appleton St. access point so that you know where to go. If for some reason we have to change the access point again, I will let you all know as soon as possible. Please spread this message around as it is a safety issue and we don’t want to see anyone get hurt.

Thank You,
