Default Fullers

New sign for gas prices went up yesterday, hoping they are going to open the pumps and not just the oil business office.

Heard that Circle K wanted to open there and the town turned them down....don't know if it's true or not. They are generally against any commercial developement.

SAMIAM: Yes, the deal with Circle K fell through at the last minute.

We have also noticed the new gas sign up and there seems to be a few people in and out of the store this week! VERY good news!!!!

I told ya there would be gas there again..... Glad too. But let us wait and see what the prices will be. You know, before any major celebrations and all!

At what point do you think this application was turned down? There is no change of use (theoretically) which means it should not have gone to the ZBA. Did you see any notice of an application coming before the Planning Board? Where else could it have been turned down? The PB certainly has sent mixed signals regarding business development but this doesn't make sense.

Before Rob's Gas Depot closed, I was told by an employee that Circle K backed out at the last minute (my only speculation was the price?), nothing with the town preventing them from the purchase.

At least we'll all have another location for gas and yes, hopefully the prices will be favorable by all!

The pumps have power to them (there are lights on in them), but as of 6AM this morning, I've not seen anyone pumping, nor prices in the sign

Well, that is starting to become the trend at Moultonborough Gas stations. The lights are all on but no gas in the pumps....

They'll be lovin' you OCD, when you pull in with that beautiful boat for a $300 fill up. Well worth it though.

Thanks Sam.. I filled up there every time last year (as you saw) How could they have gone under??? LOL. It's a 100 gallon tank and I could only use premium due to the supercharger.. Luckily this year I have had it removed and brought back to stock so I can get away with mid-grade.

Yeah no need for any superchargers on the lake anymore eh? I was thinking about taking out my big 8s and sticking an electric trolling motor on the back of my 30 footer.

As you probably know, a gallon of gasoline weighs 6-lbs, which is 2-lbs less than a gallon of water!

So a hand carry, portable 100-gal tank would only weigh 600-lbs plus the weight of the container, plus it's flash-explosive and a hazadous material to just about everything, including asphalt paving.

Sorry I don't follow.. what does this have to do with Fullers or filling a tank?

Have seen a couple police cruisers hanging out there looking for some gold. Does that count?

Surprised they haven't opened up yet, I got the impression, via telephone, they would be.

I think Fred Fuller is looking to open up a store at Lexington Drive in Laconia. I saw them in there the other day, I don't know if they indeed are gonna start up there, but it would be nice. I work in the Smith's Aerospace plant in the O'shea Industrial Park, and I used to go there all the time for stuff for lunchbreak when it was Reed's store. Hopefully maybe they open up there again.

I loved this response. Laughed and laughed and then went to see who trfour was and read his very interesting site! Lots of interesting photos for sure. Hope he finds out that the first batch is repeated many times before the last entry. Some might not see the second entry because of that so maybe edit out the repeats?

But I guess one can read into that, that there is going to be a reopening date rather then we are not going to be reopening........Right? I hope!

cool.. I will keep it in mind. I was going to try the Irving in Meredith. I think you can come in on the right and go around the back of the building. The only issue is the pump will be on my left and the tank is on the right.

You can always go to the upper deck in wolfboro. It is a fun place to watch people TRY to park their boats

you should have met up with us this past weekend. Great time.

I was able to fill up at the irving off of exit 23. they have enough room behind the building to make the swing.

I am going to try Skellys this coming weekend. Provided they are not packed as usual I should be able to swing in.

I went past fullers a few times this weekend and there doesn't look to be any activity. What a shame. I used to love not only getting gas there but the shop and deli were great as well.

Thanks.. I appreciate that. Awesome to hear after an entire year going by waiting for it to be fixed.

I should be out this weekend depending on weather and when my GPS will be completed. Drop me a PM if you want to meet up.

Ohhhh, your GPS will be completed in plenty of time! What time you gonna be awake on Sat. morning - no sleeping in, I'll be looking for your mug at the VK for some grub by 9:00, if not a little sooner.

PS: if you would like to do the VK, I would be more then happy to take you out, however definately would want to get their early. That place packs up on the weekends!

VERY NICE! I have a livorsi GPS Speedo on mine, and frankly it isn't working for some reason. I am not sure if it is the antenna or I hear there is a battery inside the sending unit but I hope to figure that out this weekend as well.

Funny thing is there is no requirement you have to have a speedo. I basically am just going by my RPM's breaking in the new engine.

This of course is the interesting part of having a speed limit on the lake. There is no requirement for speedometer on boats. Now that doesn't mean that most boats don't have them. But it also means, some don't operate, some aren't accurate at all.... That is what will make this law so hard for the Marine Patrol to enforce, with out having a sizable slush area. In car speedometer are calibrated and set up to work giving a reasonable estimate of speed. On a boat they are not. If the sending unit doesn't sit right in the water a tube gets block an electrical connection corrodes etc. The Accuracy goes down.

Having a GPS Speedo of course is going to be the most reliable and best way to go.

Just yet another reason the speed limit on the lake is going to be hard to enforce, and cause issues in the court system. As boaters, who have legitimate marine speedometers fight speeding tickets for going 5 to 10 mph over a speed limit which their gauge says they where meeting or just barely exceeding by 1 mph or so.

The Marine industry is not set up to handle this type of issue. Marine speed guages in 90% of the boats are set up to give a best guess to speed and have calibration issues that are exceedingly bad.

But then again I suppose we can just all put GPS units in our boats and we will all be safe.

not getting into that debate however on the GPS issue they are not accurate either. As an example if you are turning or doing a wide turn it measures the closest distance between point A and B which can actually give you a false reading showing that you are going faster then actuality. But GPS is definately the most accurate.

Lets hope so.....I am lucky my boat is small so I don't worry about pull in and out ability.... but Fullers just happens to be dam convenient.... I continue to wonder though... they originally leased the business for a reason, I wonder if they just don't want to get back into it.

P.S. Sorry for my earlier rant...I am having my Monday lake withdrawl and it seems to be worse then normal.... the only remedy.... get back to the lake!!!!!!!

P.S.S good point about accuracy of gps speedo in a cornering maneuver never thought about that

ok that is it I need to get off of here, I just can't stay on topic today

Default Fullers?

Don't know where the other thread disappeared to??

But Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching and I would have thought that if the pumps would be open they would be before that.

Any change? Any news on when / if the pumps will be opened up?

My mom just went up to the lake this morning. I just gave her a call to ask if it was open....and the answer was NO.

I also gave the Fred Fuller Oil Co. a call to ask if they could advise if "Fullers" would be re-opening again and the response was...."maybe sometime in the future".

Did they ever open? I was planning to stop in to buy diesel fuel for my VW yesterday, but it was not open. All the signs say, "Fuller", so they must have anticipated opening.

Not saying it opening...but I noticed a guy in a small bucket truck painting around the big canopy roof over the pumps the other day......

Like I said before they only have a certain time frame, one year, to use the tanks or claim those tanks abandoned and have to rip them up or fill them in. There is no waiver of this. I am guessing it has been a year already.

I still think that all very strange. To have an asset like that and leave it unused, when so many are unemployed and looking for work. Must be good to be Mr. Fuller.

Default Funny you should ask...

Just yesterday....my mother said....can you ask on the Forum what is happening with Fullers? Evidently my brother saw a couple of guys there working and stopped in and asked what the plans were. Sorry to say, but no other information other than....painting the place...was passed along.

Would love it if people knew the story.

The company owns the land next door.

I heard rumor that company wanted to put propane tanks in for the fuel business and that town denied them. Just heresay mind you.

Place has been painted and looks like they are maintaining property.

Don't have a clue why they don't open again. They sold a lot of petrol. And convenience stores in locations such as this do well. If stringent theft controls are put in place AND a good store manager is in place. Management was lacking with the last two owners.

As it stands - looks like a waste of a good retail resource.

From what I heard, the gas station was run by one of the daughters who lost interest in the operation.

Default Open soon?

When passing by today, noticed a sign saying they would be open soon, and there was a new price for fuel oil on the sign. It would be nice to give Greens Irving some competition and lower their $2.99 gas prices.

Hate to tell you but they are saying that the gas prices are going to go up $0.15 in the next week or so. Not much room for competition there. A barrel of oil is going to be over $90.00 soon. Although, and this is just me...but Fuller could do well having the store there. If he had prices lower than the Irving up the street and had the great sandwiches of old. I'd buy all my gas there. Once he gets a loyal following, he could be more competitive. He is a business man so I imagine he has been thinking of something. Like I said he has quite an asset there.
Also I keep reminding people that when gas prices got up last time the economy went down the toilet. Yes there were other factors, but youo have to admit gasoline had a big part to do with it all. So......get ready. Once again, high gas prices, less going out to stores. Less spending in restaurants.....Yikes. Talk about a roller coaster. Makes it tough to save for retirement.

I imagine so. Heck there is a groove going across RT25 from when they used to go down to the lake from Fullers.

Yep, just came home that way. $3.05 Reg. Irving in Meredith, $3.02, Irving at Moultonborough neck $3.09. Skelly's $3.10.
Fullers is at $3.49 for diesel, same as the Moultonborough neck Irving.

Default I also vote for a store at Fullers.

I really miss the store and the lottery and just being able to run there and get almost anything that one runs out of at the last minute when guests are there etc. I will be one happy gal when there is a gas station with a convenience store on that corner. I do not buy a lot at convenience stores as I am price conscious, but when I really need something fast, I don't care about the price as much.
