Tuesday, March 1, 2011 was my birthday and also my first day of full retirement. Hoo friggin Raaah!

Now to really get serious about finding a home up there!

Congratulations Toad on your retirement.I took an early retirement from General Electric on 1/1/11after almost 38 years and I'm enjoying every minute of it.Can't wait for ice out

I retired in June at the ripe old age of 37!!!

The freedom to do what I want, when I want, is incredible!!!

The problem with retirement is that there is not enough time. This is true in the LR. Look at all the winter events.
I will be moving permiently back to Wolfeboro April 6. Hopefully the snow banks will be down and spring will be starting. What is the first sign of spring?

Not at all...I'll give you a brief summary of how it came to be.

I worked for a very large telecommunications company in Boston (that shall remain nameless) and I hated the company for what it was/is becoming for the last 5 years.

They offered everyone on the property the option to retire with the best package they've had to date. So I took it.

So you took a reduction in pay and hope to be making more in two years with "a little hard work"

Sorry to be a critic but that's not my idea of retirement. Sounds more like a change of jobs.

Maybe it's just me but my idea of retirement is summers at the lake (with no job) and winters in Florida (with no job).

I don't care if I never see another snowflake for the rest of my life!

...I'm not.

I haven't worked since I retired.

I'm online a couple of hours a day helping people who need it. I sure don't consider that work.

And I spent the entire month of July and half of August at the lake hiking, swimming, exploring, and boating.

I'm doing the same thing this summer, starting July 1st until August 15th.

I don't have a boss, I don't have a commute, I can "work" as often or as little as I want, and I can do what I need to do from anywhere.

The point is that I'm free to do whatever I want. I'm living off my retirement money and will continue to do so. Sure sounds like real retirement to me. But hey, to each his own, right?

And I love the snow. I will never leave New England. I love the seasons too much.
