New marker off Mark Island
We were out for a cruise this evening and spotted a new red-tipped spar marker off the west side of Mark Island by the channel with Timber Island. It's roughly opposite the outermost black marker off Timber, so there is now a defined channel between the islands.

Be careful
It may not be a new marker. We were over in Roberts Cove and as we came out of Roberts Cove with Plum Island on our right and the shore on our left, there was a second red top marker by the island. A quick look around and it became evident that the red top marker that defined the south end of the shoal area along with the black top and flasher marker at the entrance to Roberts Cove was missing. It obviously came loose from its mooring and drifted farther in to the cove.
I made a call to Marine Patrol and it was replaced the next time we came back out that way a few days later. Look around and make sure the marker hasn't arrived from another location .

So there are now two red markers and two black markers at the west end of the passage between Mark and Timber?

While I don't know if that "new" red-tipped marker may have been dislodged from somewhere else, the "old" red marker to the "inside" of the channel between the islands (east of the two black-tipped markers) was in place so it wasn't that one. And I distinctly remember seeing the red-tipped marker further east of the point near Mink, so it wasn't that one either.
Assuming it's a new marker, and not misplaced, when heading between the islands from the west (Meredith neck side) you now basically pass between a red-tipped on left (Mark) right off the point, and the 1st of the two black-tipped markers off Timber. There's no significant change to the overall navigation pattern through there. We passed by there about 6:15-6:30PM yesterday.

We swung through there this evening and the "new" marker is gone. So it must have been another that had gotten loose, as suggested by upthesaukee.
So the bottom line is - nevermind.
