Will someone sell me a boat????
Money must be flowing out there and no one needs my business.
3 Lakes Region dealers called and emailed twice. 12 craigslist ads responded to. All get my full name, phone, email, and when can I see it question. Dealers get my price range of $15k. Cash in hand, ready to go. One dealer did say they would get back to me...but nothing in 2 weeks. What am I missing? |

Its that time of year! Anything decent thats well priced sells FAST! I just bought a new boat and sold my old one. My old one was sold before I listed it and the new one I had to buy before it was listed. Welcome to the start of summer and a stronger economy!

Same thing happens with Jeeps. You're too late to the party--wait until July now!

I find the lack of responses and poor communications to be a trend, especially in this region. But especially this time of year! Good luck, and know many of us feel your pain!

Craigslist is hit or miss but you'd think if somebody bothered to post something on there they would return a call. The issue there, and I've sold a few big items on craigslist, you can as a seller get inundated with robot calls or tire kickers or just plain crank calls. So if a seller isn't responding could be dealing with that or the item sold and they haven't pulled it down yet. Good luck in your search, there are deals to be had if you keep an eye on the market. |

Yep, I bought a Tri-toon over the winter. Starting last fall e-mail response rate was 50/50 at best, on top of that most of the quotes I received back were msrp or damn close. I made it very easy for them, told them the exact model and options some that I communicated with just never got around to a price. season has little to do with it as most of my request were during winter. So are they rolling in the money or just bad service.

What size and style of boat?
How would you like it to be powered? |

This would be a great boat for Winnipesaukee and I've heard Fay's is great to deal with -$9.2k http://faysboatyard.com/?page_id=62
I think you'll find 18 feels pretty small on Winnipesaukee. Here's another good option - $16.7k - http://www.melvinvillagemarina.com/2...l-235-ssi.html I've had good luck just taking a day and driving around from marina to marina with cash in hand. Mid week is best when it's quiet at the lake. The last 3 boats I've purchased I ended up getting about 20-30% off the asking price by flashing a big stack of $100 bills. GMail
Just so you all know, there is some sort of snafu with GMail accounts on Craig's List. They do not go through. It's happened over and over with both of my sons. Not me tho with Charter e-mail.

Boat Shopping
I agree with the prior two posts, just got back from the lake and Paugus Bay Marina, Irwin Marina, Miles Marine , Fays and Silver Sands all have great looking bowriders on trailers for sale. They are all so busy launching and delivering boats, that the best way to purchase is to show up with cash in hand. That is how I purchased by two boats up the lake. I would not got smaller than a 21' boat if you plan on being on Winni on the weekends. If you find a good deal on a 24' and you can tow it that would be perfect. Good luck and it be definitely worth taking the ride to all the marinas. You cant rely on their websites in season as they are so busy they may not be able to keep up with their website maintenance

21 century
Stop by and see Dave at Dave's Motor Boat. In Gilford. He has a nice 21 foot Century center console with a Yamaha outboard and trailer. Although not quite what you mentioned it's in nice shape and in your price range.

Bit of an update. Visited just about all Marinas around Winni. Meredith, Channel, Orwin, Paugus, Thurstons, Winnisquam, etc etc.
Found 2 boats. Both sold from under us while another sales rep was helping. One was being launched for a sea trial. They all seem to sell as fast as they come in. Found many that worked for us, but only to find out they are no longer at the marina when we showed up. |

Do yourself a favor and put your desire to own a boat on the back burner until September/October. You will have a much better outcome. |

^ This, but our sweet deal was had in August, just before school began. We picked up a boat that had been rented for three weeks that was like new, priced aggressively, and came with valet for the rest of the season, winter storage, and spring launch included.

You can also try telling the sales manager/general manager what you're looking for and ask them to call you when something like that comes in.
This can help them put a deal together b/c they could give a new buyer more money for a trade knowing they can flip it to you quickly. You could also look down south. It's probably ~$1-2k to have a boat shipped up, but you could probably save some money over trying to buy in peak season locally. Here are a couple great boats that are priced aggressively: * http://greenbay.craigslist.org/boa/5001096566.html * http://auburn.craigslist.org/boa/5064010079.html |

2nd what "rowinghelmet" said....
We did just what RH said....aligned ourselves with a couple of the well-known dealers on the lake. Told them what our budget was, the size we wanted, etc. The dealer used us as a catalyst to sell a brand new boat, and we bought the person's trade-in. Caveat: even this process took a number of months, and we were working with 3 different dealers.

I have only heard about this business through advertisements so I do not know much about it. Rte 125 RV and Marine, Inc. has preowned boats for sale. They are located in Rochester and their telephone number is 603-335-0112.
I also sold a boat once through Ward's Boat Shop in Center Ossipee. Their telephone number is 1-800-434-0134. Another place where I sold a boat is Independent Marine on Rt. 25 ( 1204 Whittier Highway) in Moultonborough. Their telephone number is 603-476--5580. They all have websites where you can look at their preowned boats for sale. GOOD LUCK!!!! |

Hi Jason - I feel your pain (although I have the opposite problem). It seems like I showed up to the party a little too late this year trying to sell my boat. You may be looking for something a little older but I am currently selling mine so I thought I would let you know. Feel free to shoot me a PM or email if you are interested or have any questions.

Very nice!
Well worth the effort of the search. Now STOP looking! (until you get the 2' itch) |
