Default Saturday Morning Boat Fire

Does anyone have any information on the Boat Fire Saturday morning (assuming it was a boat fire -- heavy black smoke along the shoreline). There were several boats hovering around, but we kept going on our way.

I heard that it was a wooden boat that burned to the waterline. Not sure how accurate that may/not be.

A report today on WMUR news confirmed an old wooden boat that was damaged significantly. It sounded like a total loss to me. The report said that the operator made it back close to a dock, but the fire was intense and that the fire for a while endangered the dock.

It is tough to lose any boat, but acording to the report, no one was injured.

Default From yesterday's Laconia Daily Sun

MEREDITH — A Milford man was rescued by a passing pontoon boat on Saturday morning while his boat burned and then sank in the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee.

A report from the Marine Patrol states that Randolph Rush, 53, of Milford, was traveling south in Bennett Cove from Fish Cove, off of Meredith Neck, when a mechanical problem caused his wooden boat to catch fi re. The report states that Rush abandoned the boat and was rescued by a pontoon boater. Rush’s boat burned to the waterline and then sank near the shoreline. Efforts are underway to remove the debris from the lake.
