Default BEWARE -- Center Harbor Town docks

perhaps I missed this posted in another thread .......

Came into Center Harbor on Friday afternoon and was about to slip on the outer dock (of the finger dock pier) and was franticly warned off by my wife who was tending lines in preparation --- The entire (triple) pilon is laying submerged across the slipage area inches below the surface!!!

Albiet we had the pick of the docks that day and slipped elsewhere, whle on the docks, however I had to warn 3 other boater off the same slip.

Why isn't their a sign!!!

We were there on Sunday. I assume you are referencing the slips on the left as you are arriving by water where the slips run parallel to the shoreline. Since we had not been there before, I didn't know what to make of a big plastic float that occupied a center slip on that side, but perhaps it had been placed there to block off the obstruction so no one else could hit it?

No Long Pine -- that was the floating raft for the Public beach that you saw tied up in one of the slips. The outermost (closest to the Lake) is where the pilon is down and laying "slightly" submerged across the slip.

To think of it -- If the folks in Center Harbor or Marine Patrol would simply drop a couple of orange mooring balls -- that would prevent anyone from running up on the pilon.

I harp on it because it cannot be seen at night --- imagine pulling in for dinner at Canoe or the Coe by boat at nite!!!

I noticed this a few weeks ago.... I have unfortunately not had the time to start a thread about.....

Phantom, thanks for bringing this to everyones attention.

This is indeed in a very bad spot. Hopefully it will either be removed and fixed soon.... until then it is most indeed not completely noticible until you are up close and someone is bound to end up on it sooner or later....
