Default Soda Shoppe

My dad took me to the Soda Shoppe for lunch last month while I was visiting.

For those who are unfamiliar with it, it is by Mill Plaza, downtown.

I was pleasantly surprised with the place.

It was packed, we got the last open table, and yet the service was amazingly prompt.

I ordered eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast and it arrived much quicker than I had dared to hope, given the level of activity.

Very tasty food.

A very squared away, efficient place for breakfast and lunch, with good prices.

Talking Consistency is always at the Soda Shoppe

Mr.V

I'll agree with you. When I'm in downtown Laconia this is one of my favorite places for breakfast. The service & food have always been great, and as a matter of fact, I can't recall that I have ever been disappointed with the Soda Shoppe, (It's called CONSISTENCY)..Within the past year this place SOLD and I was worried at first because the previous owner did such a great job with this business..I'm so glad the new owners did not change a thing with the menu and/or staff (some new faces). Great job to the new owners !!
However, as I am adding to this thread I realized I have always gone there for breakfast, but never had lunch at the Soda Shoppe..Are the lunches as good as the breakfast ? I'll expect so, but some feedback as well as plate recommendations would be appreciated.

Default It's a staple... and a hidden landmark

So, for full disclosure, I worked there for 6 years in high school & college, all of which I remember quite fondly. Regular customers, anuual tourists... it's simple: good food - fast.

I was also was worried when it was sold! But, the new owners recognized the gem they had and changed very little. (They opened another Soda Shoppe in Franklin and began Vineyards restaurant in Belmont.) The owners had been well received by the staff - some employees of 25 YEARS or more! They're all very happy that this hidden gem has remained 'intact'.

It's family food. It's a good value. It's consistent. It's fast!

I remember seeing patrons arrivng in the lot and preparing these 'regulars' orders on the counter/table as they sat down! It's a place I will always remember fondly, so let's hear it for the Soda Shoppe!

My dad and I had a return visit last week, and it seems things have changed, but for the worse.

It took a long time for the food to arrive, and when it did it was average,at best.

Fairly crowded but not packed.

Others I talked to said it has gone downhill.

Too bad.

Glad to see these reviews! I saw they were participating on restaurant.com and had been debating trying Soda Shoppe. Now I will check it out next time I'm up in Laconia.
