Default Ice on the lake in Alton

I noticed when viewing the Spencer Hughes web cam yesterday that snow was all over the lake. Guess one would say the lake has started the freezing process.

No we need the ice for all those that really enjoy the winter sports and fun. The boaters and swimmers had their time now it's time for others to enjoy their fun times like me which is short. I love plowing snow.

I don't exactly like plowing snow, or removing snow in any way, especially the concrete we had yesterday, but I love winter...skiing...and enjoying Alton Winter Carnival. Being a New Englander means to me learning to love each season and its beauty.

I could not have said it any better. The lake has so much to offer in the winter. A fun and SAFE winter to all. And Merry Christmas!!

Would someone please post a link to the Spencer Hughes web cam? Thanks

Until you move somewhere where there simply isn't snow, I'm not sure you can ever fully appreciate a nice snowstorm.

Sweet. Getting excited. Isn't there usualy an ice in thread? You know, posting stuff like this and reports around the lake? If there is not a thread started lets start an official Ice In thread. I for one, living in Colorado would appreciate updates, pictures, etc. in one easy to find post. I don't want to start a post if there is already one around. I just couldn't find anything with the search.

Thanks RW. Just tried it and same results. No go. It must be in my security settings or something. I just checked Java and I have the latest. My WeirsCam, MountCam and WolfeCam all work almost instantly. NB

I can't help any more, but I just tried it again and mine also says error (something) but comes up and right now it is a great picture with the lights on the bandstand out in the lake. Must be a setting on your system but not being savvy on them I can't help any more. Someone will come along and tell ya what to check so keep checking in.

Unhappy Couldn't have said it better!

QUOTE: "Until you move somewhere where there simply isn't snow, I'm not sure you can ever fully appreciate a nice snowstorm." That was from GraniteBox.

Sitting down here in Florida looking at the ocean with one eye and with the other eye I'm watching television and this massive snowstorm up north..........

AND WE ARE SOOOOOO ENVIOUS.

And to top it off, it's Christmas, and all decorations down here are artificial and we're wearing shorts and tank-tops.
Something isn't right with this picture!

There are lots of pilots in the region watching and waiting for the lake to freeze enough for the guys to open the iceport!

Near me are Ospreys on a nest raising a family, but if there's anything "un-Christmasy" down here, it's all these Pelicans!
