Irene and the Mount
Does anyone know if the mount is going to be out on Sunday for its weekend scheduled trips around the lake? I have always wanted to see the lake at its worst in a relatively safe vessel.

Umm, why not call the Mount business office and ask them? It's their vessel.

If you want to see it bad, book an autumn cruise when it's raining and blowing. Especially at night. Start with an empty stomach.

Just took a peek at the website they show the boat as being chartered for the 28th.... and not available for scenic cruises.

Last Monday (the 15th) was a windy and rainy day and the Mount did not leave the dock. I assume all the daytime cruises were cancelled. By the evening the weather had improved some and they did go out for the dinner cruise.
Members of the Mount's staff can confirm this but it seems like severe weather like a hurricane would cause them to cancel their cruises and put on some extra lines. You can see on the Anchor Marine CAM if the Mount is out or in at the Weirs. |

Irene and the mount
Well I did what Wolfeboro Baja told me to do, and what LIforrelaxin confirmed and this is what they said.
No the mount will not be cruising Sunday it is chartered for a private function, weather pending. Thank you Mt washington cruises We rented the Flag ship lounge for our wedding and I thought that was a little pricy but renting the entire ship! Holly {cow}! But I would still pay extra to mix it up with IRENE. |

Perhaps we can get you out in a 12 foot row boat with a live web cam so we can all watch what happens. Would be better TV than the weathermen at the beach.

A few weeks ago we had a few very windy days and I could see watching the WeirsCAM live stream that the camera was being rocked back and forth by the wind. It will probably make me nervous watching it in much higher winds although it has survived up there on the same weighted mount since 1999. Here's the stream which is also available through the WeirsCAM page: |

That’s funny you say that, when I was about 15 (around 1975?) there was a hurricane on the lake and the storm just stopped, blue sky’s everything. Being a avid fisherman I decided to go out in my 12’ star craft with a little 9.9 outboard and the wind started up again with a vengeance, just barely made it back to the camp! come to find out I was in the eye of the storm! That’s probably why I like the big stuff.
