Tree stumps and trunks
I am cutting down some trees to make room for a garage and am looking for a place to dump the large tree trunks (pine). Where do contractors take the trees? I don't mind paying to dump them just need a place that will take them.

Hi Tom -
the Moultonborough Transfer Station will take trees, brush, stumps... here's from their website: BRUSH and STUMPS: No charge to residents if less than 5" in diameter. Larger than 5" $0.08/lb Sure is a beautiful day on the lake! -PIG |

Yes, but my other choice would be to build the garage out of them.

Our Region Has Two Pine Species...
Quote:
Call Wolfeboro Editor Thomas Beeler (603) 569-3126, or ask to check his office-kept bound archive volumes—dating from 1873. (!) As a species, Red Pine is in decline, and can be identified by three needles (think R-E-D) in each cluster of needles. White Pine can be identified by five needles (think W-H-I-T-E) in each cluster of needles. The bark of Red Pine trees is coarser than White Pine and appears reddish in color. From a distance, its foliage appears darker than White Pine. |

bear guy
Check with the guy on 104 that does the carvings with his chainsaw on the side of the road. We had a tree taken down a few years back and we stopped in and asked him if he was interested in it (we even brought him a pic) and he came and took it away for free. A few weeks later we went back to order a bear carving and he gave us a good discount for us giving him the tree

I get a little OCD when it come to cleaning up the woods. My son jokes about it. There will be 5 to 10 large pine that will need to come down I would rather just get them off the property.

Tom,
What diameter are the trees? And what lengths did you cut them to? If you haven't cut them too short yet, and they are nice sections of the tree, you may be able to mill them into lumber, or at least it would be easy to find someone with a mill that would take them for free. Are you planning on digging out the stumps or grinding them? If your planning on grinding them, I may be able to help you out if your interested. I'll be working on my land in Alton doing some stump grinding of my own. |
