Marker Question
Hello All,
I have a question about markers on the lake. According to the Bizer map of Winnipesaukee, there should be 4 markers at the opening to Harilla Landing Yact Club. I was there recently and there are only 2 markers. Is this something Fish and Game decided to only put 2 markers in there and my map is just too old? Thanks!! |

Mesz77, welcome to the forum. You're correct as is your chart, there should be two solid red and two solid black markers for the channel into Harilla. They've moved quite a bit and two went missing at some point last year.
The state launching ramp to the right as you enter gets a lot of barge traffic by contractors serving the islands. Between ice in the winter and the barge traffic the missing markers lost the battle at some point. Hopefully the marine patrol will be able to reset them this year. There's a fairly large shoal to the right of the channel roughly in line with the launching ramp. Stay lined up with the big dock to the left of the launch ramp and you'll be OK. There are also a couple of rocks on the left hand side as you enter but they're pretty close to shore.

LOL, you’re very welcome. I wish I had a dime for every time I’ve been through there either as an observer or at the “con”. More than 50 years of trips to and from the islands on the weekends, all times of day and night as well as all kinds of weather conditions. God I’m old...

Yes. I’ve been going into Harilla for years. There were always 2 black, 2 red marking the channel. Last year there were only two, one black, one red.
