We were on the lake at about 8:45 am today and saw only two other boats on the water. Made the trip out to Welch and got the seasonal dock down. No damage to the main dock and only one rock knocked off the breakwater.
Did not see any floating debris, unlike last year when there was a lot. Went slow anyway. |

The WMUR report. Seriously, I don't think these people have ever even been to NH, let alone should they claim "Nobody knows NH, like we do".

WMUR: What are you smoking ??
Meredith ?? Last Year it was earlier than March 29th They must have out-sourced the " FACTS" proof reader to a low cost country !! Forest Gump was correct .. Stupid is as Stupid does !! ************************************* CONCORD, N.H. -- New Hampshire's unique hallmark of spring -- ice-out on Lake Winnipesaukee -- has been declared. Ice-out signals when the M.S. Mount Washington cruise ship can leave its Meredith winter dock and travel the lake unimpeded by ice floes. Capt. Jim Morash declared ice-out at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday. The Mount Washington won't actually cross the lake until its shakedown cruise May 2. It will open to the public May 8, Mother's Day. Ice-out typically occurs in April but was declared as late as May 12 in 1887. The earliest ice-out recorded was on March 29, 1921. Read more: http://www.wmur.com/news/27599778/de...#ixzz1JzqNKvth |

did they get the ports wrong?
They said Weirs which is the home port but made no mention of Meredith which is definitly one of the ports. Heck he can't forecast worth a damn anyways.

Winter Harbor Ice
I trolled the east side of winter harbor Saturday afternoon after the east wind pushed the ice offshore several hundred feet. Caught two tasty salmon. I was the only boat in Winter Harbor and, looking over the ice, I saw no boats in the Broads which was wide open. Sunday the ice started out in the middle of the bay and by days end was piled up in both ends with the center clear. Once again I was the only boat in Winter Harbor and I saw none in the Broads. Two more tasty salmon. Monday the wind was howling. One other boat in Winter Harbor however, he either came in from the Broads or launched from his property as I did, because the Libby boat ramp was still locked in solid. Ice still in both ends with the center portion clear. No fish Monday. The water was generally 36 to 37 degrees all weekend. I'm hoping all the ice is gone by this weekend so I can put my dock down. It's a pain in the butt pulling the boat up a ramp everytime I come in.
