Incident in the Broads
Does anyone know what is going on out in the Broads (about half way between Rattlesnake and Sandy islands)? Appears to be a police and a fireboat with their flashing lights on...and multiple civilian boats have accumulated around them. They've been there for about 30 minutes.

I heard at the Glendale docks that a boat was taking on water and Marine Patrol was trying to get it to a safe place.

It was a old Magnum Missile that was not towing a skier. The transom broke off the boat and it sank.

That's a shame--not that it's ever good when something like that happens, but those are really neat looking boats. Makes me think twice about overpowering (not that that was the case here).

Sunk boat
The magnum was pulled up and brought back to its home. It was quite the process, but the motor still runs. It was an eventful Sat. Morning!

Thankfull...
There was a letter to the editor in the Conway Sun written by the owner of the boat. He thanked the NHMP, the fire department and many other people ( by name) for their help. Lots of friends.
The owner and some pals put on SCUBA and dove on the wreck whos GPS position was marked by a passer by. Every salvage is different but it sounds like they did a pretty good job and saved the boat. Bravo Zulu. Misty Blue |
