Where is This Curved Shoreline?
At RG's suggestion, I'm asking forum members to identify the location of this older watercolor painting from the forum's Gallery. It's labeled "Lake Winnipesaukee / NH".
This specific location could have been "built-up" over the many years that have passed since this striking watercolor was accomplished. Identifying the [left-handed] artist may be asking a bit much... It would mean a lot to the owner (and me, as she interrogates me about it every year).

Yes and no. It does look like a view from the docks looking out. Since it's a watercolor, the depth of the photo might be a little bit smaller. Interesting if it is Lee's Mill because it looks very country-ish with no houses on the shoreline in the distance.

Could also be Sally's Gut before houses were built.

I might go along with the entrance to Sally's gut too....except I don't think the shoreline is sandy as it is in the painting.

Might I suggest that this isn't anywhere? I've seen enough paintings of landscapes and the "models" to know they don't always jive. Yosemite and some of the...creative..."likenesses" are perfect examples.

Where is this curved shoreline?
I am inclined to agree with 'thinkxingu'. The area looks a little like Lee's Mills, but not large enough. I think it is an abstract based on reality (remember, it is art, not detail.)

West Alton
It looks like the last turn coming out of West Alton Marina just before you hit open water by the sandbar....

Pic
WAM is an excellent guess. If it were Minge Cove there would be a hill on the right and a much wider waterway

I have no idea where it is, but it looks like a hand colored photograph. Very pretty.

I'm guessing Melvin Village. Put a house where the pines are in the upper right, a breakwater down the right shore and some docks directly in front and it would match up nicely

If this post goes much longer every foot of shoreline will have been guessed.

Or Melvin Village...or Somewhere Else...

It's possible that post cards were made of this watercolor. Post cards of this vintage would have required a penny stamp. The photograph (left—photo credit, JMR) of Minge's Cove at the "Ice-Out-2017" thread reminded me of this subject watercolor art. .
