Default Laconia in a Strong Position to be New Host of Pumpkin Festival

I heard them mention something about this on the WMUR news this morning and after a little bit of googling I found these articles.

Default 15,000 . . .

people downtown. Good luck to them. If it does become so, I'll make sure I mark it in my calendar and not venture from our oasis.

Cool
Heroin addicts and free-stater/ anarchists sound like a great combination...
Look forward to seeing how it all works out.

Have you ever been to the Pumpkin festival in Keene? Great times with the kids and grandkids. Lots to see and do, many restaurants and shops to browse. It's really sad that the actions of a few idiots spoiled the fun for so many families. It's been a great and fun event for years, and my guess is that the town fathers will reconsider their decision to not renew the permit for next's year's festival.

Default Claremont

Looks like the organizers are working with Claremont for an Oct date.

Claremont did a commendable job rising from the grave. I drove through the other day and downtown is vibrant! Found the Common Man on the river and again another uncommon experience!

Hold it at Gunstock.

As the main event, I suggest a variation on Punkin Chunkin.

Instead of the winner being the pumpkin which travels the furthest, consider setting up a big bulls eye target on Gunstock mtn, and have the punkin chunkers try to hit it.

Could set up a few targets at varying distances for the different types on punkin chunkin machines.

WMUR says there is an announcement tomorrow in Laconia. I doubt there would be an announcement made from Laconia saying "were not doing it". Looks like it is going to happen....

The kids and grandkids enjoyed the Keene Pumpkin festival...as did we. I really like the idea of it moving to Laconia. It will give us another "excuse" to leave the cottage open later in the season. I still can't believe that Keene let this slip away from them because of a few idiots. Up until 2 days ago I was telling friends that I believed that they would come to their senses and let the event continue....this would have been the 25th anniversary of the event I believe.

Cool, for Laconia! Maybe the festival can be hosted by a different city each year. Then no one town will have to take repeated hits for the cleanup.

Awesome. I assume the first few years will have a strong police presence to prevent something like what went on in Keene and I am OK with that--I have nothing to hide. Looking forward to bringing my little girl there this year.
