Candiates for Darwin Award
If I wasn't watching this with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it. But, as I write this, there are two guys in a pontoon boat trying to get from Ames Farm out to Diamond Island. There's a small break in the ice and they are "navigating" in this river. Peering thru the telescope shows that one guy is hanging off the back of the boat trying to push the ice away from the outboard by using a paddle or pole of some sort. One shift of the ice and they'll be stuck out there for a few days.
Now it appears that they're stopped in a big bed of ice. Not sure if they're stuck or not. Hey I want to get out to the island just as much as anyone else, but this is a bit over the edge. Update: 3:27 pm, they broke free and are heading into shore again. |

No big deal
Even if they got iced in on the island it wouldn't be long before ice out. Did you notice how much beer they stocked ?

Someone's gotta do it
The thing about Darwin's theory is that those that try these kinds of risky moves, and live to breed, seed the future.

They made it
I watched those guys make a few trips back and forth to Rattlesnake from Ames Farm yesterday. They were plowing through ice and I can't honestly believe that they made it unscathed.
