Default Center Harbor renovation

What is going in at the former Bay Gulls site in Center Harbor? Building is undergoing significant renovation.

Word on the street is that a combination Massage and Tattoo parlor with an adult book shop will be opening in that space. Evidently that type of business can sustain the high monthly year round rents whereas the 10 week style shops never make enough during the "season" to break even after the rest of the year's rent is paid.

And your point is? Relax and enjoy the "new" tenants, they will provide you with all manner of excitement.

Default Wrong thread?

Shouldn't this be part of the "What do we do with the Weirs" thread. The Weirs barely has a magazine rack, never mind a book store.

Maybe it's the Moultonborough Community Center!

The MoBo BoS members aren't great with senses ... like "sense of the meeting" of town meetings. Maybe direction isn't their forte either, the site being rehabbed, being just west of the MoBo town line.

However, the sewer line and sewer pump house are on the MoBo side, right there at the lights.

They certainly do know how to make things stink!

Default Sandwich shop

Heard a sandwich shop is going in at the Center Harbor location where Bay Gulls used to be.

Do you know Bill, what kind of sandwich shop. It looked like a new facade was being installed.

Would LOVE a great sandwich shop. Like Benedetti's in Haverhill or something!

Asked at Town Hall. They said it is a sandwich shop. Of course I suppose the sandwiches could have tattoos.

Yes and no!

Bay Gulls is still up the road, in Moultonborough, at the LEE WA plaza.

This is the old Bay Gulls place, in Center Harbor, that moved to MoBo.

Anyone know who is opening this shop?

Locals or one of those escaping the big city to come up to beautiful Lakes Region to fulfill their dreams of opening a small business in this highly seasonable area?

A la Sandwich General Store?

Wish them well....but the façade they installed pretty much ruined the lake view from the first floor of Lavinia's

I saw that--old west style--but hadn't thought of how it might affect businesses in back. Hmmm...

You would expect that Planning Boards site reviews and Zoning regulations would address these issues before hand.

Very few towns have "view" protection ordinances as they are exceptionally difficult to write so as to not be law suit attractive.

The building looks great!

I look forward to a new dining option in our town and judging by the extent and quality of the renovations I have a feeling the bar is set much higher than the competition next door, to the left.

I think it's supposed to be a sub shop, so not much of a "dining option," and if you're referring to the Mug on the Bay, I've been quite a few times and like it a lot. The only reason we don't go more often is location--like the BBQ guy just off 23, we're either coming or going to camp and it's never the right time!

Default Take out place

I heard that the fellow that used to be chef at Castle in the Clouds has taken over this space and is going to have a lot of prepared meals "to go" .... to take home and heat/eat.
