Default Lakeside Deli and Grille

Just want to make the first official announcement of The Lakeside Deli and Grille in Meredith. My wife and I are opening the former Lakeshore Deli location right across the street from Clough Park. We will be offering fresh creative salads, homemade soups, a full deli spread as well as all homemade sides and a dinner menu as well. We plan to have a beer and wine menu with outdoor seating in the summer. Early March is the goal to open and we can't wait to make our dream become a reality.

Jeff and Annie,

Good Luck with your new business.
We used to frequent the old Deli and have missed it since it closed up. You have our business, its any easy stop for us on our way to Shep Browns.

Thanks for the best wishes! This is a new business and has no connection with the former Lakeshore Deli other than the location.

That's wonderful. We are always excited about new food and its a wonderful location you have there. Looking forward to trying things out in March! Just my two cents but please think about having dinner take out options for those of us who are lazy but hesitant to inflict our one year old on your patrons!!

Best of luck!

We are aware that a good portion of our business will be for take out. The entire menu will be available for take out and we also will have an extensive catering/pick up menu with 1/2 and full pans of a variety of dishes available.

Dockside delivery is already part of the plan for the summer! We are trying to think of the best way to make it work. Our thoughts are to do delivery on the hour every hour to the docks. Any thoughts or ideas are more than welcome and thank you very much for your best wishes!!

There will be fresh seafood on the menu. Seafood will be delivered Monday and Thursday and I will run seafood specials based on what I get each week. Meehan's Fish out of Tuftonboro will be supplying our quality seafood and he has the best reputation in the Lakes Region! I eat the scallops he delivers raw out of the bag:-) It's that fresh!

I'll bet that almost no one knows that good scallops can be eaten raw. They are every bit as good as warmed..cooked.

I used to like Oysters On The Half Shell in a restaurant ..I think it was the Chart House chain down the East Coast to Florida. If they were really fresh..you could squirt a lemon on them and they would "flynch". Now they are too expensive. NB

I LOVE oysters on the half shell, No Bozo! They are so good. I hesitate to eat a lot of any raw seafood because of all the things you hear, but I do love them!

Chefbrown, You asked for a few thoughts I hope you don't mind if I offer a couple. First of all every hour on the hour may not fit peoples schedule and on certain days dock space may be at a premium making it difficult to connect with boaters. So how about this. Find a high energy young person who can deliver to the docks on a bicycle. Put a sandwich board (no pun intended) on the bike saying :Another great lunch delivered by Lakeside Deli. Or, The lake is our Dining Room, or something to that effect. Put a bell on the bike and have him ring it like a crazy Ice Cream man every time he approaches the docks. Phone # and website on sandwich board and delivery person should pass out menus to other boats while making deliveries. Also after a long day on the boat people may not want to make dinner so why not promote order dinner ahead and pickup at dock. I am making myself hungry I gotta go.

We have already thought of the bike as it is a great idea. My concerns about the bike is if we are permitted to ride on the sidewalk over to the docks. If not that is a CRAZY corner with traffic in the summer and do not want to endanger anyone just to deliver food. I want a 3 wheel bike with a big basket and sign and flag. Love the bell idea!! If the bike idea can't work, it's only about a 5min walk over to the docks and our energetic delivery person will definitely stay fit!! Thank you for your thoughts! Love it!!

I LOVE THIS, not only do i miss the deli, but i love the idea of the delivery. And the person who runs the food will sure make some good tip money, people with big boats have big pockets. All the gas dock attendants know this.

Personally I don't see why many customers can't walk to the deli. It is a short walk. I for one will be walking over to your place from the docks for your delicious food.

Default More docks needed...

How about asking the town of Meredith to put in some town docks on the other end of town. It would help us boaters who want to go to the new Lakeside Deli and Grille, get some provisions at Hannaford's or getting a cup of joe at Dunkie D's.

It would also add more boat parking on those beautiful days when everyone is visiting Meredith. More docks would certainly be very nice!

If your name was Rusty McLear, you could put docks up in a heartbeat - with no questions asked. I'd like to know how he gets away with all these new improvements to Church Landing in areas that are supposedly within the Shoreland Protection Act buffers.

How about keeping this thread relevant to the Lakeside Deli and Grille.
What Church Landing has done has no bearing on the new business that is starting up.

Default The little guys

I love patronizing the 'little guys'. You and other small businesses have my vote! I find Church Landing very 'tacky' with the way he tried to bring the birch trees into the interior design. We have our events at Oliver's Lodge. Way better accomodations and at a cheaper price!

Default Lakeside restaurant

A Lakeside restaurant just opened up in the old Dunking Donuts building across from the new Dunkin donuts in Laconia. Just down the street from Pizza Hut.

We were surprised to see another Lakeside named restaurant go into the old Dunkin location. Apparently according to the state the names are different in their entirety to be allowed that close together. Hopefully there won't be an issue with the similarity. The menus and concepts are different as well.

I was talking with someone about this and given the location it is eventually doomed to fail. No parking and very hard to get in & out of.
I remember when DD was there and there would be a line down the road of people waiting to get in the drive thru.
I wish them luck, time will tell.
Good luck with your new business. If I’m in that area working I’ll look you up.

Businesses should "register" the names with Sec of State, then another would not be allowed of the same name. I think that's what happened with Long Ridge Farms now going by Picnic Rock Farms.

FYI: I think an original name in Meredith was Lake Shore Deli, with Charlie's well known potato salad recipe, carried to your building by two ladies who bought the business. From there, I have no clue if the recipe is saved to next owners of a deli in that corner building, of course long closed.

YES, totally agree that traffic issues in summer would prevent vehicle deliveries to Town Docks. I am sure added docks must have State approvals, in addition to Town approvals. Both a long process.
Off your section of the Lake, there are depth issues to deal with, unless permission can be granted for you to deliver by boat from dock of a neighbor ~ not suggesting client docking, just your own delivery boat run by young summer help, in even a kayak!

I seem to remember the deli on Main Street in what was Karen & Barry's (now recently closed) had a decent business of lunches to boaters as well as business people around town.

Go for it, with some "thinking out of the box"!

What great news! We love to got to Meredith for lunch and sometimes don't want to wait for a table and wait for waitress and wait fot the check at the end. We would love to just take a nice walk over to the Deli for sandwiches. Dock delivery is an awesome idea! That area of Meredith is bustling with activity and you should do very well. Best of luck at your new venture. We'll be there for our first lunch on the water this season!

I'm confused! This is NOT the place that's in the old Dunkins? If not, where is this fine establishment located?

The place in this thread is not the new one in Laconia. I had made mention because they had VERY similar names which is usually frowned on by the state but in this instance they are different enough to be ok.
The restaurant in this thread is in Meredith.

The new place at the old D&D has so much competition. With T-bones, pizza hut, subway DiAngeloes all within walking distance it will be a tough sell. Couple that with almost no parking and it's looks to be another un-reasearched business venture.

Corner Route 25 and Pleasant Street, once a florist, offices real estate and variety of uses but once a deli.
Heading east, it's before Flouries, and before Hannaford's!

Default Good Luck

Just took a walk over to take a peek at your new place. I wish you nothing but good luck! Although I live down in Boston, we have a place in Meredith right around the corner and look forward to stopping in frequently. As a business owner I understand all of the effort and energy that has gone into your new venture and wish you and your family good health and much success!

Hi All,
This is Annie, Chef Jeff's wife. We can't thank you all enough for your input, excitement & warm wishes. This has been a dream of our's for 10 years & to see it come to fruition is beyond exciting. We look forward to meeting you all & for you all to get to know our family. Our son's Liam (10 y.o) and Ryan (5 y.o) will be at the deli often.
The space is almost done & we have put in alot of hours to make the space warm & friendly. The food will speak for itself! We have had to push back our opening date to April 9, but look forward to finally getting started. Thanks for the support, we appreciate it.

Default Great Chef

I've had Chef Jeff's food before when he was Chef at the Coyote Grill. He knows how to cook and doesnt take shortcuts like many in the area. Meredith is lucky to have his new business here. Can't wait to try it out.

I too was initially confused with the EXACT location. This sounds even better !!

If I get this right.... by water... If I am lucky enough to slip up on the Bay Point dock the new Deli is directly across the street. There's a bank there too if I am not mistaken.

Which brings me back to the Threads discussion of Dock Delivery .... given the above is accurate -- Jeff / Annie have you approached Bayside with the idea of utilizing their slip for pick-up?

Your new Lakeside Deli looks just super-duper, and thanks very much for getting it done like you did, it looks terrific. Cannot wait to head over there by boat with my girlfriend and park the little boat in the shallow water that's between you and the Meredith Yacht Club....and wade ashore......for breakfast......your spot on the lake should probably be a big winner, breakfast go-to spot!

i just wanted to come on here and say how WONDERFUL my lunch was here today. and i am not getting paid to say this lol. I was skeptical that it could live up to the old deli that use to be at this location. but when i walked up those steps and into the building. my skeptical thoughts were gone. the view is great, the interior is fantastic, and dont even get me started on the food. BOY OH BOY was it GOOD. no... GREAT. All in all it was a great meal provided by very nice people behind the counter. cant wait for my next trip.

Darn that was good. My wife stopped in for lunch today - loved it - and so I grabbed take out for dinner. Between us for the two meals we had the half roasted chicken, the pesto tortellini salad, the Cassidy sandwich and the potato crusted salmon (plus a choc chip cookie for dessert). They hit it out of the park on all counts. Great food and great people. I highly recommend it!!

Default Kudos!

My wife and I were on our way home from an appointment in Gilford and were looking for a place for lunch. We were just going to stop at Papa Gino's but I remembered reading here about Lakeside Deli and Grill opening some short time ago so we figured we'd give it a shot. I'm very glad we did. The place looks great, very relaxing atmosphere. Everybody was very friendly and accommodating and the menu had a little bit of everything. I had the Italian sub and it was packed. I never saw mushrooms in an Italian before but I did tell them "the works". It was great. I can't remember what they called what my wife had (some kind of grilled turkey and coleslaw maybe?) Anyway, it was really good as well. It was a beautiful day so we sat out on the porch and enjoyed the view while we ate. Can't get that at Papa Gino's. We'll be back but I think next time I'll have to try the "The Black Cat".

Hart's Turkey also has an excellent sandwich menu within their dinner menu that seems to be similar in price and selection to the Lakeside Deli, so this makes two Meredith restaurants that would be a less expensive place to go than any of the nearby Town Docks/Inn at Church Point/Camp/Lego restaurants.

Default Lakeside was a hit!

My boys and I had the pleasure of visiting the Lakeside last Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed Ryan's Rueben and 2 Classic Burgers. While we waited outside on the porch we enjoyed a beautiful, relaxing lake setting across the street. We saw some fresh salads delivered to another table on the porch and I will be sure to try them on the next trip. Unfortunately we had to take our food to go because my wife and daughter were driving up after us and we had to get to Town Docks for ice cream before it closed at 8! Another Classic Burger and Mount Washington on fresh bread were downed with no evidence remaining! The owners couldn't have been nicer, and I really believe this is the spot to go when you need a great meal, a place to unwind, and you don't feel like eating the same old take-out sandwich at home. I look forward to many returns, even throwing a line out to fish in the park across the street. Five thumbs up from my family, and that hardly ever happens! Denny Crane!

Thanks Denny Crane, We are glad you enjoyed dinner, remember we are more than sandwiches! Fresh Fish & Ribs (too die for) are on the menu! Our menu is available all the time & 7 days a week! Thank you!

Default Lunch cart

Hey Mr and Mrs. ChefBrown,

How about having a lunch cart at the docks? Everyone can enjoy your delicacy without having to walk across a busy street!

That way FLL won't leave his bench!

If not a cart how about a runner/biker stacked with menus for dockside delivery?

Default First week of business

Can't believe we have been open for just over a week. Working out the kinks and S@#t is always a challenge. Just wanted to thank everyone for the feedback and for trying us out! Staffing especially in the beginning is also tough. We have had some busy times where I know some of you have waited too long for lunch. That is a major concern of mine! I am striving for quality above all and speed has to be there as well. We are working very hard to make everyone's experience a great one. Thanks again for the feedback and the business and hope the word keeps spreading!! Chefbrown

Default Awesome rids!

Great day for a boat ride so we headed out to Meredith to try out Lakeside Grill. Short walk on a beautiful day from the docks to the resturant. With a nudge I went for the ribs and they were the best I've had in New England - just fall of the bone tender and tasty. We also got a burger (big and juicy) and the Rubin (lean and tender). Big portions and very good sides. Being a math wiz I calculated the stroll from the docks to the Deli and back equals one ice cream cone guilt free. Great evening.

My sister and I got salads from there the other day. They were very good. My only suggestion would be to cut the ingredients smaller. We had take-out and it was hard to cut some of the vegetables, bacon, chicken etc. with a plastic knife.

First, just want to say thanks to Jeff and Annie for staying open 15 minutes later on Friday night. We called them on our way up and ordered dinner to go, told them we would be a little later than 8pm and they had no issues with our later arrival. They made sure our food would be warm and said they would start preparing at 8:05. We arririved at 8:15 and they were just finishing our order. perfect timing. As mentioned above the ribs were delicious, my wife had the seared scallop salad, scallops were tender and sweet, I also had the BLT salad with grilled chicken with my ribs, the salad and ribs were enough to feed two people.
Thanks for the great meal, we look forward to sampling more of the menu.

Default I'll be back

My wife and I stopped in the past two weekends and had some great salads and sandwiches. We will be back again soon so we can try out more of their selections. Can't wait to get some friends together so we can book a reservation for the private dining room upstairs overlooking the lake.

I grew up in NJ also, and where we lived fries with gravy weren't on the menu. Just wondered where in NJ. I'm from Bergen County.

I remember fries with gravy from somewhere but I can't remember where. I was raised in Passaic County, NJ. I also remember fries with vinegar in Connecticut in the sixties. Yummy. NB

Disco fries! I learned about these from my NJ friends when I lived in Hoboken for a few years.

Can't wait to try out Lakeside Deli in July. Sounds delicious!

Just read the Laconia Daily Sun online and saw the ad from the Meredith firefighters thanking Annie of Lakeside Grille for the sandwiches and salads and Hart's Turkey Farm for coffee they supplied during the recent fire in Meredith. Good community spirit and great advertising. Can't wait to try Lakeside while we're at the lake in August.

I always think of the Gilbreths when I see the signs for Montclair. : )

Thank you for a great meal last night! We stopped by on our way to Moultonborough and got some great take-out and met Mrs. Chef Jeff. The Vegetable Strudel was fabulous and WBD loved his Mount Washington. He's already planning on working his way through the sandwich menu!

We enjoy our macaroni salad and tortellini salad. The pesto was just right, not overly garlic-y. They were perfect complements to our other selections.

And...the place is absolutely beautiful. Great views from the dining room and the deck. "Two thumbs up! Highly recommend!"

They had fries with vinegar in NJ too-I remember getting some at the Monmouth county beaches and having them. I remember my dad having me try them for the first time when I was a kid-thought it was weird until I tried them-yummy!

I was up this past weekend for my sons graduation at PSU. On Friday night we attented his awards ceremony and didn't get back into the Meredith area around 8 pm. We were all staved by this time and I suggested we try Lakesode deli becasue I had heard alot of good things about it from the forum. It was 7:50 and they closed at 8 so my wife ran in and asked if it was too late. They said of course not, c'mon in. The woman behind the counter mentioned the fish of the day was swordfish and my fathers eyes lit up, he no longer had to look at the menu. He said after that it was delicious. My wife got the meatball sub and also said it was delicious. Me.....being the plain picky eater, got the plain roast beef sub. Very good!! At no time did we feel rushed to order. We would of stayed and ate on the deck to enjoy the weather and the view but we didn't want to hold up the staff, I'm sure they wanted to get home after a long day. The woman behind the counter actually started chatting with my mother about her son just graduating from Vermont the week before. So, what I am trying to say is, very friendly people, great food, very nice atmosphere inside, nice eating area on the deck......we now have a new place to go. Only thing missing is the docks.....maybe someday
