The movie that came out on dvd recently, 'The Conjuring' was quit good. Almost made me a believer. Then the movie ended, the lights got turned back on and the reality of.... well reality, crept back in.

Do I believe in ghosts and ghost hunters? NO! Do I believe in spiritual energy? Absolutely! I have personally had and have heard of too many experiences not too. Don't know what was trying to be communicated with the breaking of a cake glass. Maybe it was the spirits birth or rebirth day and they wanted to be remembered! Then again, maybe it was a small earthquake!

For some reason people that believe in ghosts, psychics, bigfoot, magnets, crystals or anything supernatural think that science doesn’t apply to them or their claim. Even though science explains pretty much everything in the universe. Too many ignore this little fact.

P.T. Barnum said it best...

As they say , desperate times call for desperate measures...If business sucks then what better way to get people into your store than make up some crazy story...I bet it works though:ro lleye2:

I hope the store doesn't have a bogeyman in it also...I don't mind Ghosts, but I'm really afraid of the bogeyman.

When I was a kid I was always told if I wasn't good then the bogeyman would get me.

Default I don't know any ghosts, but I do know a ghost-hunter..

I've never seen a ghost or witnessed anything paranormal, but that doesn't mean they couldn't exist. I guess I won't know until I'm on the other side of the grass....

I do know a (former) ghost-hunter, however. My ne'er-do-well 20-something nephew. He dropped out of high school, got married and divorced, and can't hold a job. He and his pals decided to pool what little money they had and become "ghost-hunters", as they were going to "make a fortune". They are back to being unemployed, smoking weed, and playing video games all day.

Are we really to believe that someone who can't hold a job slinging burgers and fries has the ability to communicate with and capture supernatural-beings?

Seems to me Ellacoya Gen Store has found a new way to attract customers!

My brother is a ghost hunter. He does it for fun and makes no money. He does spend a lot of his own money and time.

Default This is the type of Ghost to have

The Nutmeg Inn

Meredith, NH

Built in 1763, the inn is haunted by a ghost the staff have nicknamed Charlie. The inn is believed to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad and also a boardinghouse that once expelled two students for being Hitler Youths. Witnesses have described cold spots, apparitions turning up in photographs, and poltergeist pranks, but Charlie is known for being a kind and helpful ghost. In one case, the owners wanted to install electrical outlets in the Teaberry room, but found that it would be too expensive. They closed the room for the winter season and when they opened it again, they found an outlet had been installed right where they wanted it. The electricians they had contacted denied having put in the outlet, and the inn never received a bill for the service. Charlie is also believed to be responsible for helping a carpenter with the wood paneling in the entryway and coaxing flowers that had never bloomed before to bloom the day the new owners purchased the inn.

I have to preface this with "I don't believe in ghosts", but I recall a time when I wasn't so sure. My wife and I were just married and living in a gorgeous old home near the seacoast. During the few years we lived there I had this recurring nightmare of a "ghost" dragging my wife out of bed and into the kitchen, where she and I tried to fight it off. Pretty disturbing for both of us; I would wake up screaming every time.

Well, anyway, we moved out of that house and I never had it happen again.

Where's Sigmund Freud when you need him? He could explain it.

We bought our current house in Nashua in 2006, bought from an elderly woman who's husband had died previously. After she sold it, she went to live in a nursing home in upstate NY to be closer to her daughter.
My wife swears that she saw, felt, or otherwise somehow encountered the old gentleman on several occasions. Being skeptical, i brushed it off.
Some time later, we heard that the woman had died.
Shortly after that, our 5 year old grandson was staying over for the weekend. My office is in the 3rd bedroom where I highly suspect the old gentleman died. I say this because we asked several neighbors where he had died and they just evaded the question, maybe to not spook us about the death. Neither my wife or I mentioned what she had seen.
Anyways, one night, our grandson came to us and told us that there was a man, all dressed in gray sitting in the chair we had in the corner of that 3rd bedroom. The man didn't do anything, just sat there. Apparently it didn't scare our grandson, he didn't seem to make a big deal about it. Also note that neither my wife or I ever mentioned anything about the old gentleman to any of our kids or grandkids.
So, now, he has "appeared" to my wife and grandson, I have never had an encounter.
It's your choice whether or not you choose to believe any of this, but I swear, it's absolutely true,
So here's what I did. One night when i was alone, I went into that office and addressed the gentleman by his name, not knowing if he would "appear" or even hear me. I informed him that his wife had passed in upstate NY and that he could now join her. I got no response or any indication of a response, but I can tell you that from that day forward, nobody has seen the old gentleman in our home. I have to admit, at the time, I really felt kind of weird addressing him in an empty room of our empty house. We believe he is gone.
I have no explanation for what happened. Was his spirit trapped in that room waiting to join his wife? I really don't know.

It's hard to believe something that seems impossible and that you've never experienced. I have a close friend that did witness some type of apparition in an old house that he and his wife were in checking out for possible purchase. Scared him to death; it was the end of that and they never went back. I honestly believe he saw something; just enough for me to hope it never happens to me.

We rented a place in Meredith a number of years ago, and it was the first night staying there.... Something woke me up in the middle of the night, and I looked out of the bedroom door into the hallway and saw a blueish colored woman standing there...

...didn't think much of it actually, and went back to sleep. Had forgotten about the whole thing until my - at the time 8 year old - son came out and said "Daddy, did you see that person last night?". I said "what did you see", and my son reported the exact same blueish lady. I told him I saw it too, and not too worry - she's not going to bother anything.

Didn't see her again after that, but was an interesting experience.

I have had 3 encounters over the past 5 years in our cottage with only my wife knowing about them. either last year or the year before my cousins visiting from FL, who did not know anything about the situation, starting saying how we were so loud in the living room one morning when my wife had to leave for work that we woke her up one morning, saying we went on for about 15-20 minutes and were having a little argument. and I said to her, She just kissed me good bye and left right out the door in under 2 minutes, and that was in our bedroom.
its gets better but I like for people to experience for themselves so I will not not share more, prior to this, I was not a believer

I've had several encounters also as far back as 1965, all but one were of the poltergiest spirit. One of my favorite stories, Myself and a roomate were renting a place for a short 3 month period where we were told upfront that it had a ghost inhabitant, we were not too concerned at first but than this ghost or poltergiest was very active. Lights on and off, shades up and down and stereo going on in the middle of the night type stuff and whenever things would happen a musty odor often would be present. Our friends would often be visiting when these things occured.
One night I was home alone and leaving to visit a friend, as I left I turned out the lights on the way out except the light at the bottom of the stairs. I got to my vehicle and realized I forgot my keys on my dresser, so I headed back up stairs and through the livingroom and into the kitchen in the dark, I reached up and grab the string for the light in the center of the kitchen ceiling and at the same time I pulled the string I felt myself bump into a person head-on, but as the light went on, no one was there. That instant turned me into a believer of a paranormal existance.

Good reading on the subject. http://thelaker.com/haunted-places-in-the-lakes-region

I must say this is tuff to say out loud and send off into cyberspace, but......
We are just approaching 6yrs of owning our place in Suissevale. Right after closing on the house I stayed there alone to do some cleaning. That night while going through stuff to get rid of in the basement, I swore I could hear foot steps walking around upstairs. I went up looked around and found nothing, just kept it to myself.
Fast forward a month or two, I was there with my son who was 4 at the time. He was 'helping' me fix some damaged sheetrock downstairs. After putting him to bed, and he fell asleep, I went back down stairs. Again I heard foot steps walking around upstairs. I went to check on him a few times and he was sound asleep, nothing moved or noticeable.
Our next trip was with the whole family so we played outside all day and my wife would help me at night, after the kids were asleep, she would help spread compound, ect.. We both could hear noise like running around upstairs from one end of the house to the other. No voices, sounds, or movement was noticed. We went upstairs and never heard any sounds. We would go back down stairs and eventually hear the sounds of steps again.
I have looked for mechanical or other possibilities that would create some sort of sound like that and could never find a thing. Off the top of my head, I think we have only heard this at night. When downstairs we are active, and I have not been alone thinking I'm hearing things. We have never noticed movement of anything in the house, only the thumping sounds which sound like they travel around above us on the first floor.....who knows..., just character to the house, we love our time at the lake.

Started by James Randi (The Amazing Randi) in 1964. To date nobody has won the money. There's a very good reason for that.
That challenge is related to people that believe they have paranormal powers and does not relate at all to a chance encounter with a spirit.

Not one of the stories presented so far have included the statement of being able to create the scene over again.

I did enjoy the reading of that site and this post should not be taken as a statement of belief in one direction or another.

Not that it really matters but his prize absolutely does include ghosts and paranormal 'events'.

"At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event."

With all the new technology since 1964 this should be easy.

Like I said, good reading on that site. My statement came from reading the actual application. The "event" is in relation to a persons perceived ability to recreate a paranormal or supernatural event.

I understand, where you are coming from, but there is nothing on that site that discredits the above video. You would need to claim that you can recreate that exact event while the testing group and media were present in order to claim the prize.

If they stated that "when this bell rings, "X" happens" than that would be a case for that organization.

Yes, everyone......I joined just to respond on this thread!

I worked for two years at Onions Pub and Restaurant, located in the Tilton Inn. Even during the previous ownership, many had said the building was haunted. There are Ghost Hunter episodes on YouTube, and there have been many investigations at the Inn.

The locals claim a young girl that perished in a fire occupies the property. Local lore suggests that Laura shows signs to protect others. This explanation could support one of the four experiences that I had at the Inn.

Only a few weeks into my employment, while working at the bar I had four "gentlemen" customers, who were attending a conference in the area. They were becoming increasingly rude, eventually asking if I would deliver drinks to their hotel rooms. Suddenly, directly in front of the most obnoxious one, a red wine glass ran along the glass rack rails and crashed to the floor. First, the glass rack was very solid, and could not be disturbed with vibration. Second, the glass had to travel over one foot horizontally before dropping, to avoid the sink and speed rail below. The incident shocked the men, who immediately paid their tab and left.

There were other instances, including seeing a very old, very thin man near the entrance to the bar, who disappeared after I turned a corner. I had always been one who "felt" a presence, and possibly being open to a belief provides the opportunity to experience an event. Just some food for thought!

Let me just note that I never felt uncomfortable at the property, even when I locked up with no one else in the building.

Great stories from everyone....I hope you enjoy mine!

My husband and I stayed at the inn one Halloween weekend. We were hoping we would feel a presence of some kind, but unfortunately nothing happen. I also worked at the Corner House Inn in Sandwich. A man named Clarence died there many many years ago. One time I put the wine tap on and when I looked back it was shut off ( nobody else was around). Everyone said it was probably Clarence. Another time the owner was varnishing a floor. He was the only one one in the building. He left for lunch. When he came back the floor was covered with material ( like specks of cotton). He felt that Clarence had likely caused the problem. There is no denying- things can happen without explanation

I watched the video and I must say that I can not see the person to the left that used compressed air to blow the glass off the counter.
