Default Island Insurance

I've owned an island home for 13 years and have insurance through Hingham Mutual at this time. My renewal just came in at 4X the amount of last year. Does anyone have any companies you might use for island home owner insurance?

Friends on Cow mentioned THE Concord Group through Cross Insurance agency.
I believe Cross has an office in Moultonboro. Call me if you need more info. I believe you have my #.

They closed the Moultonboro office, its now a thrift shop, and pulled all the people into the Meredith location, next to Duncan Donuts, across from Hannaford

We have island insurance by the Concord Group through the Cross office in Alton. Reasonably priced.

Yup Concord Group through Avery in Wolfeboro too... Concord would only do it if we gave them our primary house too.

Think is was around $700/yr for our island house that they say the replacement value on is $180k or so.

Island insurance is getting tougher every year. We had Hanover, but they wanted to bundle all of our policies together to get it.

A lot of the companies that are handling it for islanders now will not write them any more. When we were selling our place, I called around to help the new buyer obtain insurance as he was having problems. I called many of the places that fellow forum members were using and heard multiple times that they could not write them any longer and that those people were grandfathered in.

Have a log home on an island? That's even tougher to cover....

State Farm did ours with no problem at all. Expect that it'll be more expensive though than if the place was on the mainland.
