Rand Mt is in the north-central portion of the Belknap Range. It is just to the east of Round Pond and Mt Klem. The Quarry Trail, which traverses the north-central portion of the range, starts on Mt Klem from its western trailhead, then crosses the summits of Rand, West Quarry, East Quarry, N Straightback and Straightback Mts to its eastern trailhead. There are outlooks with exceptional views from each of those peaks. Folks making the cross-range traverse from the Belknap/Gunstock area to Mt Major, often choose this trail as part of the route to take advantage of those views. You can see small openings in the trees in this shot of Rand which provide views to the south - one view is down the valley of West Brook to the several small lakes just south of the Belknaps - you also see Shannon Mt, from which this photo was taken.
