One of the most interesting of the native ferns of our area. Though not rare, it is one of our least commonly found ferns. It has a distinct growth pattern and delicately formed, palmately shaped leaves - it is sometimes referred to as the five-finger fern,a reference to the palmate or hand-like shape. Usually grows in very rich, moist soils, typically under mature tree cover.
