Every year extremely cold weather manages to create a mantle of ice that encapsulates the plunging waters of Falls of Song and seems to freeze the falls in time. Here we see an early January photo showing a little over half of that process completed. Two openings in the sheath of ice show a still vigorous flow of descending water behind the icy mantle.
