The MV Doris E. was built in 1962 from the old General owned by Carl Hedblom, for the purpose of commuting from Lakeport and Weirs Beach. During her construction, the vessel was split down the middle in order to increase her beam to 16 feet, her length to 68 feet, and her capacity to 125 passengers. When she was launched she was christend MV Doris E. after the owner's wife. The vessel is now owned and operated by the Winnipesaukee Flagship Corporation.
No date on the postcard. Information from The Boats and Ports of Lake Winnipesaukee, by Bruce D. Heald. An excellent book!
