1973 - The brown house to the left looks familiar. Is this the site where Misty Harbor is now situated? "Hi: It is beautiful here this morning. The sun is shining right across the lake into our cottage. We have 'sight seed' and toured the area. Today we take a boat ride on the lake and then we are leaving for Bar Harbor, Maine. We are all a bit sunburned. I caught a 15" salmon. This picture show our ____. Our cottage is right down front. You can't see it. Had an earthquake last night. All O.K. Love, Jack"

In Sanders Bay, the Saunders Bay Motel is now Yacht Club Vista, a condo. It is adjacent to Misty Harbor which would be on the right of the picture. Misty squeezed in between Silver Sands/White Sands and the former Saunders Bay Motel. The swimming pool is still there along with the Brown House and the cottages. Like Misty Harbor the Saunders Bay Motel was (and Yacht Club Vista) is on both sides of the road. There is a scenic gazebo near the lake on the property but I can't see it in the post card. The docks have been re-done.

The big SAUNDers Bay Motel sign they had prominently displayed was the reason why many people called (and still call) the bay SAUNDERS Bay instead of it's "real name" SANDers Bay. I never stayed there but had friends who did. The motel office had a small general store or convenience store. Morning newspaper, coffee, sundries and such.

This brings back many memories. Thanks.

Hi Al! Here is the gazebo to which you refer. A modern day postcard and a vintage one. Amazingly the tree and the gazebo have not changed much.
