In recent years the outstanding view to the north from Mt Shaw had become progressively diminished by the steady growth of trees. This year, in several work sessions, volunteers cleared away much of the obstructing growth to produce this wide vista of the White Mountains and nearby ranges. 5 water bodies seen are: Dan Hole Pond, Ossipee Lake, Conner Pond, Silver Lake & White Lake. Unfortunately, on this day a cold front with unstable air produced many clouds in the far background, obstructing the view of the Presidential Range, the Franconia Range, and many other distant mountains - on a perfect day more than 30 mountains of 4000 ft or more can be seen from this spot. The circle of peaks seen in the foreground are Mt Shaw's neighbors in the Ossipee Range.
