This is a favorite place of mine to see when I am in Alton Bay.

Remember I had a tour of the property a few years back from the wife. I was told the cottages are for their friends. One cottage is specifically for their dogs and has AC and a dog run behind it.

I absolutely loved the cottage seen on the right of this picture. It overhangs the water. It could not be built today.

I wonder if they have changed and are renting to others? A Google search comes back with a number and is listed in Cottages, Camps-Recreational, Cabins & Chalets.

Thanks Just Sold! Wish I was with you for the tour. They sure classed up the place and turned it back into an historic showpiece.

From my tour of the Bolder Lodges main house:
THis is a late 1800's home. The arched roof on the second floor is the new updated full bathroom and was not overly large but all top line with granite and a soaking tub. The roof is obviously not part of the original design. The kitchen had all stainless commercial grade appliances with darker (Ash?) wood cabinets and granite but again not a huge space. When the restoration was done attention was given to retain as much of the original detail as possible in all of the rooms. The bedrooms, halls, foyer, stairs, living and dining rooms look like they did when the home was built and they kept the patina of the wood trim where possible only restoring the finish as necessary. The walls are hair plaster and were neutrally painted. The only room that was enlarged is the porch and unless you were told you cannot tell it was not that way originally. The restoration was extensive and I was told the house and cottages were a mess and had been very neglected when it was purchased. Extensive restoration was done to all buildings. When I was there the cottage over the water that is in the pictures was just being finished up by the craftsman they hired. It looked like it did when built and I loved it. I was told that with the exception of the "dog's cottage (has a dog run on the back and AC) all the others were for family and friends to use. I would expect that the owners have made other improvements since I was there in 2005.

The Winnipesaukee RR went right past the house within about 50' from what I could see. It would have gone through the 1 car garage that is on the property. You can see to the left of the property (from the water) the filled in area for the RR bed and has a lagoon behind it. Almost all of this is area is part of the Boulder Lodge property.

There is a tunnel under Rt 11 to the Mt Major trail that was put in at the request (protest) of the owners of Boulder Lodge and the trail from the tunnel leads to Boulder Lodge.
